47. referencia de Eclectic Reactions Records y primera de este 2024 para celebrar los diez años del sello bilbaíno. Miguel A. García , figura trascendental en la experimentación sonora vasca, y Mikel Vega , otro peso pesado de la escena del norte de la península, unen fuerzas para ofrecernos “Restrrcants”.

Un trabajo donde electrónica y guitarra se funden en la experimentación, el ambient y el drone a lo largo de cuarenta minutos y seis temas repletos de atmósferas capaces de transportar al oyente a planos sugerentes e inesperados, repletos de matices, donde los pasajes sutiles se intercambian con otros de mayor tensión narrativa con un resultado exquisito.

Una obra mayúscula que sale a la venta en una edición especial de 20 copias numeradas a mano en cassette transparente bajo una presentación cuidada en un sobre blanco dibujado a mano por la artista Patricia Etxegarai , encargada igualmente del diseño de la portada.

47th release from Eclectic Reactions and the first of 2024 to begin celebrating the ten years of the label.
Miguel A. García, a transcendental figure in Basque experimental music, and Mikel Vega, another heavyweight on the scene in the north of the peninsula, join forces to offer us “Restrrcants”.

A work where electronics and guitar merge in experimentation, ambient and drone throughout forty minutes and six tracks full of atmospheres capable of transporting the listener to suggestive and unexpected places, full of nuances, where subtle passages are exchanged with others with an exquisite result.

A capital work coming out in a special edition of 20 hand-numbered copies in a hand stamped transparent cassette under a careful presentation in a white cardboard envelope, hand-drawn by the artist Patricia Etxegarai, who was in charge of the cover design.

ER045 Sculptures - Máscara

The 3rd of March sees the light of Máscara, the debut album of Jacobo García as Sculptures, being the 45th release of the label.

Máscara takes inspiration from the Hippocratic theory of humorism, using it as a reflection on artistic exposure. The song titles and the cover enables Sculptures to juxtapose the coldness of the music with the physicality and warmth of the human body.

Jacobo García is an artist, curator, writer, producer and DJ. He employs the moniker Sculptures to present his debut album, Máscara, a collage of field recordings, ambient reverberations, acid dips, a hidden Led Zeppelin sample, walls of textures and ASMR voices, all of them under a notional umbrella.
Máscara is a conceptual album revolving around the Hippocratic theory of humorism: a system of medicine used by ancient Greek physicians and Philosophers. This system develops along four body fluids: blood, phlegm, yellow bile and black bile, which are then linked to behavioural patterns. Depending on the delicate balance of the bodily fluids, those behaviours appear: phlegmatic, choleric, sanguine and melancholic. The fluids are catalysts. According to the theory, humours are also associated with parts of the face, which are the four songs of the record: the tongue (Lengua), the eyes (Ojos), the cheekbones (Pómulo), the mouth (Boca).

Sculptures creates a new narrative entity with the humours when interpreted as parts of the face. This entity embodies the whole concept and provides a suitable closing: the mask (Máscara) is used by the artist to expose and develop himself as a one, in conversation with other artists and as a human being. That narrative artefact links the artist with his formative and artistic development process and attempts to answer these eternal questions: What makes an artist? How to become one?

A magical object coming as a special edition limited to 60 copies. A “frosty aqua blue” coloured cassette in a transparent case, accompanied by an insert with an essay developing the concept of the album, all contained in a transparent metallic bag. The cover has been created using machine learning techniques by Northern Irish artist Stephen McLaughlin.

Septuagésimo octavo de la serie de podcast mensuales de Eclectic Reactions por LaBala. Le artista audiovisual nacide en Rubí (Barcelona) y residente en Bilbao Víctor Baladoch lleva más de una década exponiendo trabajos entorno a la imagen instalativa bajo una estela existencialista. Desde 2019 su interés se centra en las acciones en vivo, realizando performances sonoras y de cine expandido. Destaca el proyecto Bidaia Bakartia donde, a partir de tape loops y field recordings, genera viajes sonoros con un contundente drone y atmósferas vibrantes que oscilan entre el
ambient y el noise. Con esta sesión, realizada para Eclectic Reactions, se presenta bajo el nombre
LaBala, una faceta más de Baladoch con la que nos comparte su fascinación por la música electrónica en una experiencia sonora que selecciona tracks y mezcla sonidos que transitan entre el ambient, el drone y sonidos deep. Una propuesta de escucha estática que, sin querer dejar de lado la escena techno, nos induce a un hipnagógico imaginario en constante movimiento.

78th ER podcast by LaBala. The audiovisual artist born in Rubí (Barcelona) and resident in Bilbao Victor Baladoch has been exhibiting works around the image for more than a decade under an existentialist trail. Since 2019 their interest is focused on live actions, making sound performances and expanded cinema.
They highlights the Bidaia Bakartia project where, from tape loops and field recordings, it generates sound journeys with a forceful drone and vibrant atmospheres that oscillate between ambient and noise.
With this session, carried out for Eclectic Reactions, they presents themself under the name LaBala, another facet of Baladoch with whom they shares their fascination for electronic music in a sound experience that selects tracks and mixes sounds that transition between ambient, drone and deep sounds. A proposal of static listening that, without wanting to leave out the techno scene, induces us to a imaginary hypnagogic in constant movement.

Última referencia de 2022 y número 44 de Eclectic Reactions Records titulada “Le Diable Probablement” y que surge de la conjunción entre nada más y nada menos que Valerio Tricoli, Werner Dafeldecker y Mattin. El polifacético artista bizkaino, probablemente una de las figuras vascas más internacionalmente conocidas en el arte sonoro y la experimentación, responsable de infinidad de proyectos ( La Gruta, Billy Bao…), álbumes y obras de diferentes formatos (como su último libro sobre la Disonancia Social…) se une al italiano Valerio Tricoli (proveniente de la acusmática y quien ha editado en sellos como PAN o Entr’acte) y al compositor austriaco Werner Dafeldecker (multi-instrumentista e improvisador con trabajos desde 1991 en sellos como Room 40, GROB o Another Timbre) para ofrecernos esta joya conceptual y sonora. Media hora de duración para un verdadero viaje iniciático a través de la experimentación sonora, el ruidismo, la electrónica, la síntesis de sonido, la abstracción, la música industrial, la música concreta, los drones y la oscuridad que todo lo impregna. A lo largo de cinco piezas las diferentes texturas, tonos y estructuras más o menos ruidosas y que de manera acusmática son presentadas junto a voces, interpretaciones, sonoridades electrónicas y orgánicas van conformando una sucesión de secuencias musicales sumamente hipnóticas y sugerentes donde la disonancia se fusiona con la melodía en un resultado sonoro mágico y profundamente atractivo. Repleta de matices exquisitos, la obra se mueve manejando los tiempos con soltura brindando estructuras diversas sin perder un ápice de profunda rabia y atmósfera turbia que todo lo enreda en un ejercicio magnífico de ritual sonoro contemporáneo en forma de álbum. “Le Diable Probablement” sale a la luz en formato físico bajo una edición limitada a cuarenta copias numeradas en cassette transparente sellado a mano en el interior de un sobre negro estampado.
