We spend so much of our lives at war with our own reflection.
From the moment we are young, women are taught to treat their bodies like projects to be fixed. We are told to shrink, to tone, to smooth away every mark, and to apologise whenever our bodies take up a little more space than society deems comfortable.
We measure our worth against rigid standards that expect us to remain permanently fixed in time, unchanging, unyielding, and perpetually polished.
But you were never created to be static.
Your body is a living, breathing ecosystem. It shifts with your seasons. It expands to carry you through grief, through joy, through illness, through motherhood, and through the quiet chapters of rest that your soul desperately needed. It softens when you need comfort. It shifts to protect you.
The moon never apologises for changing shape. Neither should you.
The sky never demands that the moon stay full every single night. It is loved when it is a sliver of light, it is loved when it is hidden in shadow, and it is loved when it is glowing in its complete fullness. Each phase serves a purpose. Each phase belongs.
Your body is not a betrayal when it changes. It is simply keeping you alive through the cycles of your life.
Stop apologising for existing in a body that shifts. Stop waiting for your shape to be perfect before you decide to live, to wear the clothes you love, to swim in the sea, or to step fully into the light.
Honour the softness. Honour the strength. Honour the vehicle that has carried you through every single storm you have ever survived.
You are allowed to change. You are allowed to take up space. You are allowed to simply be.
