The girl on the first slide wouldn’t recognise me today.
Looking back at these photos honestly makes me emotional because I remember exactly how I felt. I hated people taking photos of me because I already knew I wouldn’t like what I looked like. I wasn’t happy in my own skin at all.
I was drinking every weekend, eating whatever I wanted and felt awful... But enough was enough and I joined the gym lost a few kilos and I thought I was eating “healthy”...
Then something happened that completely changed my perspective. Doctors found a lump on my liver. Thankfully it was benign, but it scared me enough to realise I had to start taking my health seriously and actually pay attention to what I was putting into my body.
I started eating whole foods, training consistently and actually looking after myself. I was told the lump probably wouldn’t shrink... but it did. Even my doctors were surprised.
That moment changed more than my health. It made me fall in love with challenging myself. Lifting weights. Running. Showing up even when I didn’t want to.
I’ve decided to get a coach and let me tell you it’s been the best decision I’ve made, I’m on a proper training plan and in a calorie deficit. I really believe this was the missing piece to my puzzle. I’m still nowhere near where I want to be, and that’s the exciting part. I’m still writing this story.
If you’re at the beginning of your journey, please don’t give up because it feels slow. It took me years to get here, and I’d do it all over again.🖤
