I wasn't even looking for a restaurant (but I was hungry after spending most of the day walking in Ronda).

I was walking through Ronda, slightly lost, decided to go to Arrabal Restaurant without knowing it has a terrace with killer views of the Gorge, Puente Nuevo, and the eternal line of olive trees behind. EVERYTHING right there from your table.

In 2025 I thought San Miguel Restaurant /Hotel had the best views (and I went there), but that's why it's good to return to a place and get to know it better, because now (2026) I can easily confirm Arrabal has better views.

Everyone goes to Ronda for the bridge (I get it), but you also need to spent time walking the streets and here is why.

The accordion player outside that shop nobody else stopped at. The bull head staring at you from inside a souvenir store. Jamón hanging in every doorway. A horse carriage turning a corner like it’s still 1920. Ironwork, coat of arms, covered arcades that most visitors walk straight

This is the Ronda I want to come back to.

Ronda has many Miradores and most people do one viewpoint in Ronda and leave. Here are 4 you shouldn't miss, each one completely different.

→ Puente Nuevo Mirador - the classic. The bridge, the gorge, the view everyone comes for. Start here
→ Mirador de Ronda - panoramic valley views. Best for scale and perspective
→ Puente de las Curtidurías - the tannery bridge. Quieter, more intimate, a completely different angle
→ Camino de los Molinos - gorge level. The most dramatic and the least visited. This is the one nobody goes to

My recommendation? Do all four. Don't rush them. The last one is worth it (close to sunset even better!)

Ronda tiene muchos miradores pero estos cuatro son increibles. Cada uno es completamente diferente. La mayoría de la gente solo ve el Puente Nuevo y se va. No cometas ese error. El Camino de los Molinos, a nivel del tajo, es el más impresionante y el menos visitado.

Would you dare to hike one of the world's most dangerous paths? At least it used to be one!

Walking the Caminito del Rey is one of those experiences that reminds you why you travel - the scale of the gorge, the path clinging to the rock face, the birds flying around (are they waiting for you to fall so they eat you? - we will never know!).

Torremolinos. It was a quick stop as I was driving from Benalmedana and wanted to get to Malaga by sunset, however this town deserves a come back!

The Rambla reminded me of La rambla de Montevideo minus the fresh espeto on the grill that you see in any coastal city of Andalucia. The wild parrots are a landmark by now, so cute! The paseo stretches forever along the coast.

There's something genuinely charming here that gets completely buried under the resort reputation.
This was barely scratching the surface. More soon, I promise!

Torremolinos. Una parada rápida corta que me sorprendió por su parecido a la Rambla de Montevideo, menos los espetos frescos, claro. La Rambla tiene vida propia y loros salvajes tambien!. Hay más por descubrir. Pronto, lo prometo.

It looks medieval. It was finished in 1994.
Castillo Colomares is a monument to Christopher Columbus, built entirely by a local doctor named Esteban MartĂ­n over several years with no public funding. It holds the Guinness World Record for the world's largest monument to Columbus. It looks like something out of a fairy tale and somehow almost nobody visits.

What you need to know:
→ Located in Benalmádena Pueblo, 5 min from the old town
→ Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am–2pm and 4pm–6pm (closed Mondays)
→ €3.50 entry — one of the best value visits on the Costa del Sol
→ Small site — allow 45 minutes
→ Combine with Jardines del Muro, they're walking distance apart

The best free view in Benalmádena and almost nobody knows it's there.
Jardines del Muro is a small public garden with a mirador that looks out over the Costa del Sol - same kind of views as the teleferico, zero euros, no queue. You can even spot Colomares Castle from here.

What you need to know:
→ Located in the old town of Benalmádena Pueblo
→ Free entry, open all day
→ 10 minute walk from the main square
→ Best in the morning before the heat kicks in
→ Combine with a walk through the old town - it's worth it

Skip the cable car if you're on a budget. This is your spot.
