In the ninth year of its journey, Nazca Records continues to evolve its sonic identity, pushing boundaries while staying true to its deep, story-driven roots.
The latest release, Free Fall EP, comes from Up & Down, a powerful Romanian trio making their debut on the label with two hypnotic and sophisticated tracks: Moonrover and Get Up.
The EP reflects a mature blend of forward-thinking minimal grooves and warm, analog textures, perfectly crafted for both early morning dancefloors and introspective listening. There's a spacious elegance in their sound, with each detail carefully constructed to invite the listener into their own free fall of rhythm and emotion.
The visual concept for this release is especially meaningful. The cover artwork is inspired by one of the 303 newly discovered Nazca lines, revealed by a research team from Yamagata University in Japan using AI and aerial imaging. These newly found geoglyphs, more intricate, represent the continuous uncovering of ancient knowledge, aligning with Nazca Records' own mission of exploring the echoes of the past through the sound of the future.
A hypnotic voyage driven by tight percussion and spacious, cinematic layers. "Moonrover" floats between deep introspection and forward propulsion, a track designed for immersive listening and long-form club journeys.
More direct but equally refined, "Get Up" is built on a rolling rhythm and subtle vocal fragments that loop and evolve with precision. Infectious and restrained, it balances dancefloor functionality with artistic clarity.
