🎧🍻 THE END OF AN ERA – FAREWELL DJ GARY 🍻🎧
Yes ladies and gents, we have some very sad news to share with you all…
Our very own DJ Gary is hanging up the headphones, saying goodbye to the wheels of steel and taking a very well-deserved retirement after entertaining Corralejo for many, many years.
And I think I can speak for a hell of a lot of people when I say Corralejo simply won’t be the same without him.
From his epic Speed Quizzes and Music Bingo nights to his legendary Soul Nights, Gary has entertained thousands of people over the years and created some truly unforgettable nights here in Corralejo. If you’ve ever been lucky enough to be at one of them, you’ll know exactly what we mean — Gary had that special ability to bring a room together and turn a good night into one people would still be talking about years later. 🎶🙌
But anyone who knows Gary will know he has always been so much more than just a DJ.
He’s a one-of-a-kind entertainer, a pioneer when it came to bringing new, fresh and different themed nights to Corralejo and someone who was always thinking about what he could do next to entertain people. But away from the microphone and the decks, he’s also just a genuinely lovely bloke and a true gentleman.
And I for one feel incredibly lucky that we’ve had the opportunity to work together over the last few years.
Not only that, DJ Gary was actually the inspiration behind Soul & The Sun, Corralejo’s biggest ever Soul event. 🎶☀️
Watching what Gary had created through his Soul Nights, seeing complete strangers brought together through their shared love of music, the friendships that were formed and this incredible community growing around it was what inspired us to take that feeling and create something even bigger together.
And that’s exactly what we did.
Together we created Soul & The Sun, taking everything that was special about those original Soul Nights and turning it into something that now brings people from all over the UK and Europe to Corralejo every single year. ☀️🎶
So when we talk about Gary’s legacy here in Corralejo, Soul & The Sun will always be a massive part of it. It simply wouldn’t exist without him.
And then, of course, there are all the memories we’ve made together at The Sports Bar.
We’ve had some absolutely WORLD CLASS nights over the years. Far too many to even start mentioning, but if you’ve ever been to one of Gary’s events with us then you’ll already know exactly what I mean.
The vibe, the atmosphere, the love and the energy in that room created so many wonderful memories for so many people, and none of it would have been possible without Gary standing behind those decks making it happen. 🎧🎶
Now before some of you start panicking, there are a couple of important things we need to clear up. 😂
If you’ve already booked Gary for a private event, Gary WILL still be completing all of his pre-booked events throughout 2026/27, so please don’t worry.
And to our wonderful Soul & The Sun family…
YES, GARY WILL STILL BE WITH US THIS YEAR! 🙌☀️🎶
Sadly though, this year will be his final Soul & The Sun.
So we need to make sure we give that man the send-off he deserves, and knowing our Soul family like we do, I don’t think we need to worry about that one. 🕺🎶
As for what Gary’s retirement means for entertainment at The Sports Bar going forward, we’ll talk about all of that another day.
Today isn’t about us.
Today is about Gary.
So from everyone at The Sports Bar, thank you.
From everyone at Soul & The Sun, thank you.
But most importantly, from the whole of Corralejo and the countless people you’ve entertained over the years… THANK YOU GARY. 👏🎧
You’ve brought strangers together, created friendships, built communities and given people memories that will genuinely last a lifetime.
You’ve made a massive impact on Corralejo and on so many of the people who have lived here, holidayed here or simply walked through the doors for one of your nights.
And that’s one hell of a legacy to leave behind.
So wherever you are in the world tonight, raise a glass to a man who simply cannot be replaced here in Corralejo. 🥂🎧
