Every Good Friday, the town of Adeje transforms into Jerusalem for the powerful reenactment of the last days of Christ - La Pasión de Adeje.

With live animals (including many goats - some had enormous udders - a tribute to Tenerife’s legendary goat cheese (queso de cabra), my favorite! 🐐), dramatic scenes from the Last Supper to Christ’s torture in jail, and many locals taking part, it’s a deeply emotional and unforgettable tradition.

⚠️ Tip: Make sure to stand on the right side of Calle Grande - the one facing the scenes! If you’re on the wrong side, you won’t see a thing and might not be able to change spots (except maybe near the roundabout or if the officer lets you past the church).

Big thank you to the kind German man who let me through to film ❤️

By the way… Adeje invites people to act in this every year - maybe next time I’ll be in it, who knows? =)))

From Drag Widows to a Fiery Farewell – Tenerife’s Craziest Night!

Swipe to see the wildest party I’ve ever witnessed: the Entierro de la Sardina in Los Cristianos, Tenerife! 🎉 On March 31, I followed the procession from Centro Cultural to the beach near Plaza del Pescador. Men in drag mourned a giant sardine, then it went up in flames at 11 PM.

Pro tip for Tenerife Carnival 2025: ARRIVE EARLY! ⏰ Hit the Rhythm & Harmony parade last Saturday - got there 40 mins before the 9 PM start, and zero seats left 😅.
