Today, Thursday, 10 September, Spain can look forward to a generally calm and pleasant late-summer day, although a few areas may still see some rain. 🌦️

🌧️ This morning, the southeast – especially around Dénia and the northern Costa Blanca – is still dealing with some rain. Conditions should gradually improve as the day progresses. Later on, a few drops or an isolated shower are also possible along parts of the southern Mediterranean coast, particularly between Málaga and Almería.

☀️ For most of Spain, however, the weather will remain quiet, with plenty of sunny spells and only occasional cloud. Temperatures are also beginning to climb again in western and southern parts of the country.

⛈️🔥 THUNDERSTORMS AND HEAT – TODAY SPAIN HAD IT ALL! 🇪🇸

Good evening, Spain Lovers! ❤️🇪🇸

What a Wednesday it has been! From intense heat in the south-east to heavy rain and thunderstorms in the north-east, while strong winds also made their presence felt in several regions. Spain showed almost every side of September weather today. 🌡️⛈️💨

📍 In our graphic, we have selected some of today’s most interesting measured weather highlights to give you a better picture of just how varied conditions were across the country.

🌡️ Heat: Mazarrón reached an impressive 38.2°C, while Málaga Airport recorded 36.6°C.

🌧️ Heavy rain: Ripoll stood out with 98.0 mm, while Mallorca also received significant rainfall, including 69.4 mm in Manacor and 65.8 mm in Llucmajor. Barcelona Airport measured 42.4 mm.

💨 Strong winds: Capdepera recorded a powerful gust of 109.0 km/h, with 80.0 km/h in Carboneras and 77.0 km/h at Alfaro, La Plana.

Quite a contrast: scorching late-summer heat in parts of southern and south-eastern Spain, while elsewhere thunderstorms, downpours and strong winds dominated the day. ☀️➡️⛈️

🔥🇪🇸 SPAIN BREAKS HEATWAVE RECORD IN 2026

Spain has experienced an extraordinary 61 heatwave days in 2026 – smashing the previous record of 41 days set in 2022.

🌡️ The summer of 2026 was officially the hottest since records began in 1961, with a nationwide average temperature of 24.5°C – 2.4°C above the 1991–2020 average.

And the heat stretched far beyond summer: midsummer-like temperatures arrived already in May, while another heatwave affected 16 provinces as late as 2–7 September.

Away from the storms, southern Spain remains hot. The Terral is the big weather story around Málaga today, with temperatures locally expected to climb towards 35–38°C.

The heat also continues across the Canary Islands today, with Fuerteventura particularly hot and maximum temperatures locally reaching around 36°C.

A powerful thunderstorm is affecting the Sitges area, south-west of Barcelona, early this morning. ⛈️ The latest meteo365.es radar image shows an intense precipitation core close to the coast, with heavy rain around Sitges and towards Castelldefels.

🔥🇪🇸 SPAIN’S WEATHER SPLIT IN TWO – FROM AUTUMN RAIN TO 40°C+ HEAT! 🇪🇸🔥

Good evening, Spain Lovers! ❤️☀️

What an incredible weather contrast across Spain today! While the northwest already had a real taste of autumn, summer was still turning up the heat across the east, south and the islands. 🌧️🍂 ↔️ ☀️🔥

🌡️ The hottest place in Spain today was La Aldea de San Nicolás on Gran Canaria, reaching a scorching 42.9°C! And mainland Spain wasn’t far behind: large parts of the south and east once again climbed towards or above the 40°C mark.

🏝️ Mallorca joined the heat party too, with Pollença reaching 40.1°C. Meanwhile, values around 41°C were measured in parts of Valencia, Murcia and southern Spain. 🔥🥵

⚡ And now comes the big change!

Tomorrow, Wednesday, the weather will turn dramatically across eastern Spain and the Balearic Islands. Temperatures could plunge by as much as 10°C compared with today's extreme heat. 📉🌡️

At the same time, much more unstable air will move in. Locally severe thunderstorms and heavy downpours are possible, particularly towards the Mediterranean and the Balearics.
