Another Reading Day:
"Tell me, Master, what is the best move in the world?" There simply is no such thing as the best or even a good move apart from a particular situation in a game and the particular personality of one's opponent. The same holds for human existence. One should not search for an abstract meaning of life. Everyone has his own specific vocation or mission in life to carry out a concrete assignment which demands fulfillment. Therein he cannot be replaced, nor can his life be repeated. Thus, everyone's task is as unique as is his specific opportunity to implement it. As each situation in life represents a challenge to man and presents a problem for him to solve, the question of the meaning of life may actually be reversed. Ultimately, man should not ask what the meaning of his life is, but rather he must recognize that it is he who is asked. In a word, each man is questioned by life; and he can only answer to life by answering for his own life; to life he can only respond by being responsible. Thus Logotherapy sees in responsibleness the very essence of human existence🫶🏻

Katapos ko lang panoorin, I wasn’t prepared for the emotional punch. Ang sakit ng ending ang dami kung iyak😭 I feel bad about Polly, watching an innocent child get swept into something they didn’t choose. Her story reflects something that happens to real children, which makes it cut so deep. I love when a movie hits that hard emotionally. The actors really delivered. She Rides Shotgun has that raw & gritty realism with emotional energy where the acting doesn’t feel like acting at all, just pure human pain and connection. I wanna get the book & have a good read about it too🫶🏻

Currently reading ‘Man’s Search for Meaning’ by Victor E. Frankl. A story that hurts to read, but changes how you see life. It’s a powerful and painful book because Frankl doesn’t soften the reality. He shows how the human spirit searches for purpose even in the darkest conditions imaginable. Page 49 is unforgettable insight for me. It goes like this: "the salvation of man is through love and in love. I understood how a man who has nothing left in this world still may know bliss, be it only for a brief moment, in the contemplation of his beloved." I had nightmares after reading the first few pages of the book because of the horrifying stories. It reminded me of the ‘Rose Museum’ (The Roseslottet) that I visited during my time in Oslo, Norway which is designed to make visitors feel the emotional weight of human suffering, resistance, and dignity during dark times. ‘Man’s Search for Meaning’ does something similar, but through words instead of art. And it brings to mind what people went through during the Holocaust. This is such a painful truths that echo long after you stop reading💔 A profound respect for the courage it took to write these pages✨
