How much does nostalgia influence what we buy?
That bike you lusted after as a teenager. The one on the bedroom wall. The one your mate had. The one you watched hammering around a racetrack or heard screaming down your favourite road. Years later, suddenly you’ve got the money to buy one. And despite newer, faster, lighter, more capable bikes being available, that’s the one you want. Is that irrational? Maybe. But perhaps that’s the whole point. Motorcycles aren’t washing machines. We don’t buy them purely because they’re the most efficient tool for the job. We buy memories, emotions, sounds, smells and the feelings they provoke. At least, that’s my excuse.
What’s the biggest nostalgia purchase you’ve ever made?
And did it live up to the memory… 👇
