Here are 5 programming projects inspired by real F1 technology 👇

🏁 Telemetry Dashboard

Visualise speed, throttle, braking, tyre performance, and lap times in a custom pit wall dashboard. Use real race data to compare drivers and uncover performance differences.

🎙️ AI Race Engineer

Build an AI assistant that analyses sim racing telemetry and provides coaching during a session, just like a real engineer on the radio.

📄 Automated Race Reports

Use data and AI to generate race summaries automatically, including strategy calls, overtakes, pit stops, and standout performances.

🔮 Race Outcome Predictor

Train a machine learning model using historical results, qualifying performance, weather, and strategy data to forecast race results.

💬 F1 Data Chatbot

Create a chatbot powered by real Formula 1 datasets that can answer technical and historical questions with actual data behind every response.

I’ve built another F1 Python Project, and this one’s perfect for programmers who want to work with F1 Data! 🏎️

Open Pit Wall is an open-source F1 telemetry server that broadcasts simulated realtime data stream that uses real F1 data! 📊

It’s perfect if you want to build your own F1 insights, prediction tools, AI race engineers and more! 💻

Check out the open-source repository and let me know what you think! 🤔

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. If you’re getting into tech, conferences are the best way to dedicate time to learning. 🧠

I just wrapped up my second Build in a row, and it was even more fun than last time! 🚀

Attending a conference forces you to engage with information, and the best part is, its all there on a silver platter for you.

Keynotes, breakout sessions, activities and networking opportunities. All of which will give you extreme imposter syndrome, but in this case, that’s not a bad thing.

As for my experience this year… there were some awesome announcements, exciting conversations and an exciting surprise from a popular music artist.

This year’s keynote was full of annoucnements, but the most ones that stood out the most to me were around the launch of the new Copilot app.

Satya actually mentioned that its interesting to see how the IDE/code editor market has changed over such a short space of time.

I also had the opportunity to chat with Satya Nadella again and be a part of a group roundtable with a bunch of other creators and product experts to discuss the latest announcements and what they mean for developers.

Finally I had the chance to sit down with Sarah Bird, Chief Product Officer for Responsible AI at Microsoft, where we spent over 30 minutes discussing the different responsibilities that Governments, AI providers and AI customers have when using AI tools throughout their work and personal lives.

Thank you to everyone at Microsoft and GitHub for putting on such a fantastic event this year! Looking forward to the next one!

If you’re a programmer building with Formula 1 data, my new Open Pit Wall project is perfect for you! 🏎️

Open Pit Wall uses publicly available F1 telemetry data from every session over the past few years to create a simulated telemetry stream that you can build programming projects on top of. 📊

It takes the static, un-synchronised data and puts it onto a shared timeline.

- Driver telemetry 📈
- Race control messages 💬
- Track statuses 🟢
- Weather data ☀️

and more!

It then broadcasts the data that you need for your project over a realtime WebSocket connection. 📡

So the data you’re working with looks and feels like LIVE Formula 1 data! 🤯

This sensor has a very special job, and you probably won’t guess it. ⚽️

You’d think that any electronics inside of the ball would be used to determine the ball’s position on the pitch, but that’s already handled by computer vision systems. 🎥

Instead the IMU sensor inside of this Football is used to detect “kick point”. This is the exact moment in time that the ball is kicked. ⏰

This information can be used to determine the exact moment a ball has been passed from one player to another to help make a decision in a potential offside call. 🚩

The accelerometer’s data is being broadcast at 500 Hz, so that’s 500 data points every second! 🤯

If you’re a programmer who loves Formula 1, this might be your new favourite tool! 🏎️

Open Pit Wall is an open-source tool for hosting a F1 telemetry stream that you can use for your own programming projects. 📊

The project gets all of the its data from the FastF1 Python package, syncs it all up to the same timeline and the broadcasts it over a WebSocket connection so that you can subscribe to the specific data that you want to use.

The entire project is built using Python and can de downloaded from GitHub by anyone! 🐙

Comment “CODE” and I’ll send you a link to the code for free!! 💻

I’ve been investing for four years now and honestly I check my stock account multiple times a day (it’s a bit of a problem). 😬

So I’ve coded this TypeScript automation which automatically sends me a summary of the performance of my portfolio at the end of the week. 📊

So now I can stay informed without wasting loads of time checking the app. ⏰

The project is entirely open source so you’re free to use it however you’d like to as well as add features!! 🧠

Your programming projects are too boring! ⬅️

Here are 5 sports data APIs that you can use to build cool projects that you’ll actually enjoy working on! 💻

These are perfect if you’re a fan of Formula 1, Cricket, Football, NFL or Basketball! 🏆

Using a Raspberry Pi and Python, I’ve built my own Cyberdeck with a Formula 1 theme!! 💻

This personalised mini-computer has 2 screens for viewing race data, as well as LED Lights for the flags and an LCD display for messages from race control. ⚡️

The software was built on top of a “lite” version of the F1 Race Replay project. 🏎️

If you’d like to learn more about how I built this, subscribe to my newsletter by clicking the link in my bio. I’ll be posting the full spec sheet either this week or next week! 📧

This is project is going to be amazing!! 🤯

I’m building the ULTIMATE Formula 1 Cyberdeck, and in today’s episode, I built the software for the project. 🏎️

Using the 2 screens, I’m able to display the track map, leaderboard, weather infomation, and even a driver telemetry tool which can be controlled via a touchscreen. 📊

In the next episode, I’ll be 3d printing all of the housing for the project and fitting it into the case! 🧳
