British Man Gunned Down in Campo Amor Horror Shooting — Civil Guard Launches Homicide Investigation

Orihuela Costa, Costa Blanca — 30 December 2025

A 29-year-old British man has been shot dead inside a residential property in Orihuela Costa, in a chilling killing that local police are treating as a major homicide and are linking to possible organised crime activity.

The victim’s body was found “riddled with bullets” inside a home in the Campoamor area on 21 December, but the news has only now emerged publicly as the investigation unfolds.

What Happened

Friends of the man alerted police after becoming concerned that something serious had occurred at the property. Officers from the Guardia Civil and local police attended the scene, where forensic teams and homicide detectives were deployed. An autopsy confirmed the man died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Top-Level Investigation Under Judicial Secrecy

The killing is being handled by the Alicante Judicial Police Homicide Unit, and the case has been placed under judicial secrecy, meaning few official details have been released so far. No arrests have yet been announced.

Possible Links to Earlier Shooting

Police are investigating whether this murder is connected to a separate shooting in Orihuela Costa just ten days earlier, on 11 December, in which a 32-year-old British man was shot at multiple times while in his car in an underground garage. The earlier victim survived after being struck by several bullets and was rushed to Torrevieja University Hospital in serious condition.

Investigators believe both attacks may be connected to possible drug-related gang activity or disputes involving organised criminal groups active in the Vega Baja and Costa Blanca areas — though this has not been officially confirmed.

Growing Concern Over Violent Crime

The fatal shooting adds to a worrying pattern of violent incidents in the region. Since earlier this year, multiple shootings and stabbings — including attacks involving British and Irish victims — have prompted concern among residents and local authorities.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

The Guardia Civil has appealed to anyone with information about the murder, possible suspects, or suspicious activity around Campoamor and Orihuela Costa between 20 and 22 December to come forward. Police also continue to investigate whether the earlier car-park shooting and this murder are linked.

🚨 BREAKING (PLEASE READ!) 🚨

Residents of Orihuela Costa are being warned to stay alert over Christmas.

Reports are circulating of two suspicious individuals allegedly checking properties to see if homeowners are away for the holidays.
Witnesses claim they appear unshaven, poorly dressed, and are known to target houses that look empty.

They’ve reportedly been seen lurking near gates, windows and driveways…
Some say they even operate as a team.

⚠️ DO NOT leave lights off for days.
⚠️ DO NOT leave valuables visible.
⚠️ DO NOT underestimate them.

🎄 UPDATE – RELAX, IT’S CHRISTMAS! 🎄

Before anyone panics…
Yes, the “suspects” are Harry and Marv.
Yes, this is a Kevin McCallister–approved Christmas joke.
And no, your house is not about to be booby-trapped with paint cans and micro-machines 😄

But while this post is meant as a bit of festive fun in the spirit of Home Alone, the reality is this:

🔔 Burglaries and illegal house occupations ARE a real issue in Orihuela Costa, especially over Christmas when many homes are empty.

So let’s end on a serious note 👇

🎁 CHRISTMAS SECURITY TIPS FOR ORIHUELA COSTA 🎁

✔️ Use timers on lights or shutters
✔️ Ask a neighbour to check your property
✔️ Don’t leave packages, bikes or furniture outside
✔️ Lock gates, grills and back doors – not just the front
✔️ Report suspicious behaviour immediately
✔️ If you’re away long-term, consider cameras or an alarm system

🎅 From all of us: Merry Christmas, stay safe, look out for each other – and remember… if you see two guys arguing about tarantulas, it’s probably just a movie.

Double Murder Shocks Costa Blanca: Two Germans Beaten to Death in Suspected Squatter Dispute

A quiet residential area on Spain’s Costa Blanca has been plunged into shock after two German nationals were brutally beaten to death and a third seriously injured in what investigators believe may be a violent dispute linked to illegal house occupation.

The killings occurred on Monday evening, 22 December, in the El Pinet area of La Marina, a coastal urbanisation just 30 kilometres from Orihuela Costa. While our reporting normally focuses on Orihuela Costa, this case highlights a problem that affects the wider region as well: illegal house occupation is a growing and dangerous issue across the southern Costa Blanca.

Suspects Barricaded Inside the House

Following the attack, two men of Polish nationality reportedly barricaded themselves inside the property, prompting a major police operation. Armed units of the Guardia Civil sealed off parts of the urbanisation, deployed drones, and initiated negotiations with the suspects.

After hours of mediation by a specialist negotiator, the two men surrendered peacefully on Tuesday afternoon without resistance, according to Spain’s public broadcaster RTVE.

Victims Were Friends of the Homeowner

Investigators believe the victims were friends of the German homeowner, who is currently in Germany. He had reportedly asked them to check on his house amid fears it may have been illegally occupied.

What followed appears to have been a fatal confrontation. The encounter escalated violently, leaving two men dead at the scene and a third German national seriously injured, later transferred to hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses Describe Harrowing Scene

Local witnesses described a deeply disturbing scene. Several people were reportedly seen attempting to move lifeless bodies into the boot of a car shortly after the attack. Another woman who witnessed part of the incident was treated for minor injuries at a nearby health centre.

Investigators were struck by the level of violence used. The victims were allegedly beaten with fists and blunt objects, suggesting an uncontrolled and highly aggressive assault rather than a planned or professional crime.

Focus on Illegal Occupation as Possible Motive

While the investigation is ongoing, police are increasingly focusing on illegal house occupation (okupación) as a possible motive. Squatting has become a serious concern not only in Orihuela Costa, but also in neighbouring areas such as La Marina, where many homes remain empty for long periods outside the holiday season.

The property involved is located in Sector MR-9 of El Pinet, part of a large residential development affected by years of legal disputes dating back to the early 2000s.

A Case That Warns and Should Wake People Up

This case serves as a stark warning. What began as an attempt to check on a property may have ended in one of the most brutal crimes seen in the area in recent years. It underlines how illegal occupation is not a harmless issue, but one that can escalate into extreme violence.

Although this incident did not take place directly in Orihuela Costa, its proximity and similarities mean it is highly relevant for residents across the region. The case is expected to play a key role in raising awareness and prompting renewed debate about property protection, enforcement, and public safety along the Costa Blanca.

The investigation continues, and further charges are expected as authorities piece together the full sequence of events.

MIDDAY DRAMA AT LA ZENIA LIDL: BAG THIEF SPRAYED, CHASED AND ARRESTED AFTER VIOLENT SCENE

Shoppers at Lidl in La Zenia were left stunned around midday when a routine grocery run turned into a chaotic crime scene.

According to an eyewitness who wishes to remain anonymous, two suspects were involved in a brazen bag theft in the supermarket car park. The situation escalated rapidly when the suspects became involved in a physical confrontation with a man and a woman.

The witness, who was inside the store at the time, ran outside after realizing what was happening and intervened using pepper spray to stop one of the attackers. The second suspect fled immediately, climbing a fence and escaping the area.

But the drama didn’t end there.

CHASE THROUGH THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

After being sprayed, one suspect attempted to escape on foot, running toward a nearby residential area. The witness pursued him and later spotted the suspect rolling on the ground near a fibre-optic installation, clearly affected by the spray.

In a desperate attempt to get away, the suspect jumped over a wall into a private property and allegedly tried to kick in the front door of the house. The attempt failed.

POLICE MOVE IN

Spanish police arrived shortly afterwards and arrested the suspect at the scene. The stolen bag was recovered, and officers took control of the situation. The second suspect remains at large.

The witness has confirmed they do not wish to be identified and will not be named in any reporting.

ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER INCIDENT

This incident adds to growing concerns among residents about daytime thefts and aggressive crime in busy public areas of Orihuela Costa — even in broad daylight, even in packed car parks.

What was meant to be an ordinary shopping trip ended with sirens, arrests and shaken shoppers — a stark reminder that crime in the area is becoming increasingly bold.

If you were present at Lidl La Zenia around midday and witnessed the incident, police encourage you to come forward with any additional information.

Stay alert.

British Gang Leader Shot Multiple Times in Orihuela Costa Underground Garage

A 32-year-old British man was left fighting for his life on Thursday night after being shot repeatedly inside an underground car park in Orihuela Costa, in what investigators believe may be a gang-related revenge attack.

The shooting took place at around 10:00 PM on Calle Cabo de Gata, Lomas de Cabo Roig, when gunmen opened fire on the victim while he was sitting inside his vehicle. Between 10 and 15 shots were fired, with at least ten bullets smashing through the windscreen alone.

The victim was hit three times — in the arm, leg and chest — but despite his serious injuries, he managed to exit the vehicle and seek help from a nearby resident, who rushed him to Torrevieja University Hospital.

He was immediately taken into surgery and is currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit, where he remains in critical condition with a guarded prognosis.

Recently Released From Prison

According to Guardia Civil sources, the man had been released from prison just two weeks ago on provisional bail. He had previously been arrested in April as the alleged leader of an armed British gang accused of extorting cannabis clubs across the Vega Baja region.

Investigators say the group operated in a mafia-style protection racket, threatening club owners with violence in order to seize control of businesses and siphon off profits. During his arrest earlier this year, officers reportedly recovered two submachine guns classified as military weapons and more than 300 rounds of ammunition from his home.

Three Guardia Civil officers were injured during that operation due to the suspect’s violent resistance.

Possible Score-Settling

Police are now investigating the shooting as a potential settling of scores, a theory reinforced by the victim’s criminal background and the sheer volume of gunfire used in the attack.

Emergency services were alerted via 112 shortly after 10 PM. Armed response units from Pilar de la Horadada and Torrevieja, along with Orihuela Costa Local Police, secured the scene. The Judicial Police of Pilar de la Horadada are leading the investigation and are actively working to identify the shooter or shooters.

Growing Fear on the Coast

The incident has once again reignited serious concerns over rising violent crime in Orihuela Costa, an area that has seen multiple shootings, attempted kidnappings and armed robberies in recent months.

Local residents and neighbourhood associations have repeatedly demanded more Guardia Civil presence, warning that the coastal area — with a fluctuating population that can swell to 100,000 people during peak seasons — is being dangerously under-policed.

Despite official claims that crime rates remain “under control,” locals say the reality on the ground tells a very different story.

As one resident put it: “This is no longer petty crime. This is organised violence, and it’s happening right where people live.”

The investigation remains ongoing.

Another Intruder Caught on Camera in Cabo Roig

A new security alert is circulating in Cabo Roig after a grey-bearded man was caught on camera breaking into a neighbour’s shed last Friday at around 9:30 PM. The property owner is currently in the UK and therefore has not yet filed a police report — but the footage shared by neighbours paints a worrying picture.

According to the report, the intruder entered the private property on Calle Galena, Villapiedra, accessed the shed, and later exited the urbanisation through the main gate, which requires a key code to open. This raises additional concerns about how he gained access to a secure gated community.

At this stage, it’s still unclear whether anything has been stolen. What is clear, however, is that this incident follows a growing pattern of break-ins and attempted thefts across Orihuela Costa — many of them targeting unoccupied or rarely visited homes.

🚨 BRAZEN THIEVES STRIKE AGAIN IN LOMAS DE CABO ROIG – €2,500 E-BIKE STOLEN IN MINUTES!

Homeowners warned as criminals climb locked gates and sn**ch valuables directly from private gardens

Lomas de Cabo Roig is waking up to yet another shocking theft – this time an electric bike worth €2,500 vanished straight out of a resident’s garden on the night of 11 November.

According to the neighbour who contacted us, the bike was inside the property, right next to the living-room window. The family had briefly forgotten to lock it that evening – a mistake the thieves were quick to exploit.

🔴 HOW THE THIEVES OPERATED

In the early hours of 11 November, shortly after midnight, two men approached the home on Calle Adriático. One climbed over the closed drive gates, while the second stayed outside acting as lookout.
Once inside, the intruder went directly to the garden, grabbed the e-bike, and passed it over the closed gates to his partner, before both calmly walked away with the stolen bike.

The brazen behaviour and the confidence of the pair suggest they may be responsible for other recent incidents in the area. Residents have reported seeing similar clothing and footwear during suspicious activity the same evening.

⚠️ NEIGHBOURS ARE SHOCKED – AND WORRIED

The theft happened quietly, quickly, and with worrying precision. The owner had been using the bike earlier that evening and confirmed it was still there shortly before going to bed. Within hours, it was gone.

Locals fear this may be part of a larger pattern of targeted night-time thefts hitting private gardens and patios across Orihuela Costa in recent weeks.

🔐 COMMUNITY WARNING: LOCK EVERYTHING – EVEN INSIDE YOUR PROPERTY

The incident is a stark reminder:
Even if your bike, scooter, or valuables are behind closed gates, inside your garden, or next to your house, they are not safe unless physically locked.

Thieves in the area have clearly shown they are willing to climb, sneak, and steal – even when residents are asleep just meters away.

📍 INCIDENT LOCATION

Lomas de Cabo Roig – Calle Adriático
Date: 11 November
Timeframe: Shortly after midnight

🛑 STAY ALERT, CABO ROIG

If you live in Lomas de Cabo Roig, Cabo Roig, Playa Flamenca or surrounding neighbourhoods, secure your outdoor belongings and check your cameras and lights.
These thieves moved with confidence – meaning they may return.

If you have seen suspicious activity around Calle Adriático or nearby streets on the night of 11 November, report it to the Guardia Civil.

Shocking case in Las Filipinas: vulnerable British resident ends up in intensive care after alleged exploitation by group posing as “decorators”

A deeply disturbing case has come to light in Vista Golf, Las Filipinas, after the daughter of a British resident flew to Spain in an emergency to rescue her father from what she describes as weeks of manipulation, exploitation and theft by a group of individuals who had moved into his home under false pretences.

According to the daughter, her father met the group during a night out approximately one month ago. They allegedly introduced themselves as decorators offering to renovate his apartment. What followed, according to her statement, was a rapid and dangerous decline in his health.

What the victim’s family alleges

The men reportedly:

• Moved into the property, claiming they were “doing work”,
• Did not carry out any renovations,
• Gained control over the home,
• Encouraged heavy drinking,
• Allegedly withheld food,
• Allowed the victim’s health to deteriorate so severely that he is now in intensive care,
• Continued to live in the home while the victim was hospitalised,
• Sold personal belongings and valuables,
• Stole a credit card and allegedly spent thousands of euros,
• Possibly removed sentimental items, including a family war medal.

The family also reports that multiple household items were missing, including a Kärcher pressure washer, vacuum cleaner, TVs, tools, jewellery and more.

Photos provided by the family

The daughter has shared photos of three individuals who, according to her, had been living in the property and removing belongings. We are publishing the images only to warn the community, without naming or identifying the people shown, as all allegations remain under investigation.

A fourth individual was mentioned by name but no photo was available. The daughter states he presents himself as a local decorator.

The suspects were reportedly using a vehicle, stolen from the victim: A silver Opel Omega, registration 6682 BGM, was allegedly used by the group.

Police involvement

The family has now filed a formal report with the Guardia Civil, and extensive documentation has been submitted. The daughter travelled to Spain urgently, changed all the locks with the help of a locksmith, and secured the home to prevent further losses.

She warns that the group may still be active in the area and that residents should be cautious of:

• Individuals offering unsolicited renovation or handyman services
• People attempting to befriend vulnerable or elderly residents
• Offers that involve entering your home or staying on the property
• Unexpected “decorators” showing up without written contracts

Common scam tactic

This case mirrors a known pattern in the region:
Criminals present themselves as workers, gain trust, gradually take control of a property, exploit the resident, and steal valuables or financial information.

Unfortunately, some stolen goods may have already been sold in local second-hand markets or online.

A message from the family

The daughter says she is relieved to have finally secured the property but now wants to warn others in the community about the group’s behaviour and potential danger, especially to vulnerable or isolated residents.

Electric scooter stolen in Playa Flamenca

Another theft hit Playa Flamenca last night, this time on Calle Nicolás de Bussi, where a man entered a private property and stole an electric scooter. The entire incident was caught on CCTV, showing exactly how the thief operated.

What happened?

• The suspect climbed onto the private property and approached the porch entrance.
• Because the porch door wasn’t locked, he was able to simply push it open and walk inside without forcing anything.
• Once in, he grabbed the electric scooter, checked it briefly and left the property with it.
• The whole crime took less than a minute.

The homeowner explained:

“I left it unlocked, as always. The house is located within a residential development.”

This is unfortunately exactly the type of property thieves are targeting the most. Inside gated communities or residential complexes, residents often feel safe enough to leave doors unlocked. Thieves know this and deliberately look for such easy entries.

Important legal note

Even if no force was used on the door, this still qualifies under Spanish law as hurto (theft) because the offender unlawfully entered private property and took someone else’s belongings.

If the door had been locked and any force had been used, it would escalate to robo con fuerza (robbery with force).

Police report issues

Residents should be aware:
• When a door is left unlocked, police often refuse to file a standard burglary report.
• They may claim the victim “failed to secure the property”.
• This does not change the fact that a crime occurred, but it affects how the authorities handle the case.

Growing problem in the area

This incident is part of a rising trend across Playa Flamenca where scooters, bikes, tools and other easily transportable items are being targeted during night hours. Thieves are becoming faster and more opportunistic.

Safety advice

• Always lock all doors, even inside gated communities.
• Install motion-activated lighting and keep cameras recording.
• Don’t leave high-value items near entrances or in visible areas.

Anyone with additional footage of similar incidents in the area is encouraged to share it so patterns can be connected.

🚨 Attempted Property Takeover in La Regia – Locks Changed While Owners Away

A shocking incident took place on Sunday morning in La Regia (Villapiedra area), when four men were seen gaining entry into a neighbour’s home and changing all the locks while the legitimate owners were away.

According to a local resident, her daughter immediately called the police after neighbours spotted the men at the property on Calle Galena.
When officers finally arrived, the family provided proof that the original keys no longer worked — the locks on the main gate, security grille, and front door had all been replaced.

With written permission from the homeowner, a local locksmith came straight away and replaced the locks, also installing anti-snap systems on several doors to prevent another attempt.

Neighbours were the first to spot the men and alert others, likely preventing the full occupation of the property.

⚠️ A Common Tactic in the Region

This is part of a growing pattern across the Orihuela Costa:
Groups posing as “official-looking workers” arrive at unoccupied houses, change the locks, and then either squat or illegally rent out the property to unsuspecting tenants.

The resident also reported that the suspected squatters came from a nearby property – No. 5 Calle Galena – which is already occupied by known squatters.

Despite being informed of the situation, police reportedly showed little interest and did not take immediate action — a response that continues to frustrate many permanent residents and property owners.

🧱 How Squatters Operate

Once locks are changed, proving ownership becomes legally complex in Spain, often requiring lengthy court orders for eviction.
Squatters (okupas) often:
• Arrive during the day when owners are away,
• Change the locks to establish “possession”,
• Present false rental documents if confronted,
• Claim tenancy rights under Spain’s occupancy laws (usurpación).

👮‍♂️ What Residents Should Do

If you suspect a similar situation:
✅ Call the Guardia Civil immediately — insist that it’s an active break-in, not a civil dispute.
✅ Gather video or photographic evidence from a safe distance.
✅ Contact a local locksmith to secure the property if ownership can be proven.
✅ File a Denuncia (formal report) at the nearest Guardia Civil post.
✅ Inform your community administrator and neighbours to stay alert.

⚠️ Stay Alert

Residents across the region are urged to remain extra vigilant, especially in communities with vacant or seasonally used homes.

This latest case serves as yet another reminder of how easily squatters can take over a property in broad daylight — and how urgently stronger enforcement is needed.

🚨 Cyclist Tries to Force Open Car Door and Smash Window in Villamartín – Dashcam Captures Today’s Shocking Road Rage Incident

An alarming case of road rage occurred today in Villamartín, when a cyclist blocked a vehicle, tried to pull open the driver’s door, and then attempted to smash the window after becoming angry at a motorist who was carefully reversing out of a parking space.

The exclusive dashcam footage, obtained by Crime Watch Orihuela Costa, shows the entire sequence clearly.
The driver had his indicator on, was reversing slowly, and stopped immediately when the cyclist appeared. Despite this, the cyclist got off his bike, approached the car aggressively, pulled on the locked driver’s door handle, and then hit the side window with force, shouting angrily before leaving the scene.

⚖️ Possible Criminal Offenses Under Spanish Law

This behaviour is not just rude or reckless — it is criminal under several articles of the Spanish Penal Code (Código Penal):
1. 🟥 Article 172 – Coacciones (Illegal Coercion)
The cyclist intentionally blocked the vehicle, restricting the driver’s freedom of movement.
➤ This article punishes anyone who, without legitimate authority, forces or prevents another person from acting freely through violence, intimidation or obstruction.
➤ Penalty: Six months to three years of imprisonment or a fine, depending on the level of aggression.
2. 🟥 Article 263 – Daños (Damage to Property)
By trying to open the car door and striking the window, the cyclist committed attempted criminal damage.
➤ Even if no visible damage occurred, the intent and attempt to damage property are punishable under this article.
➤ Penalty: fines or imprisonment if damages exceed €400.
3. 🟥 Articles 169–171 – Amenazas / Tentativa de Agresión (Threats or Attempted Violence)
The cyclist’s aggressive behaviour, including trying to break into the car and hitting the glass next to the driver’s face, can be considered intimidation or attempted assault.
➤ Penalty: fines, restraining orders, or imprisonment up to one year, depending on the gravity of the threat and intent.

🚨 Legal Consequences

Under Spanish criminal law, such acts can have serious outcomes:
• Criminal charges and a permanent record,
• Fines or possible imprisonment,
• Compensation for emotional distress or any property damage,
• And potential restraining orders to protect the victim.

👮‍♂️ What the Victim Should Do

In cases like this, it’s essential to act immediately:
✅ Save and back up all video evidence.
✅ File a Denuncia at the Guardia Civil or Policía Local.
✅ Provide exact time, location, and footage.
✅ Mention these articles in the report:
• Art. 172 – Coacciones (Illegal Coercion)
• Art. 263 – Daños (Damage to Property)
• Art. 169–171 – Amenazas / Tentativa de Agresión (Threats / Attempted Assault)

This incident, is not a simple misunderstanding — it’s an act of aggression that qualifies as a criminal offense.

The cyclist’s actions — blocking the car, attempting to open the door, and striking the window — were clearly violent, intimidating, and unlawful.

Such behaviour endangers others and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
