Since its 1960s heyday, this stretch of northern Sardinia has drawn some of the sleekest Superyachts in the Med to its pristine white beaches and turquoise shallows. In this issue we pair the showstopper with the inside tip: Romazzino, the sprawling waterfront villa-hotel reopened under Belmond management to much acclaim, where Chef Dario Parascandolo steers a dining experience rooted in island traditions with an elevated touch — and Il Ristorantino at Porto Pollo Sailing Club, where the menu changes with whatever comes in off the boats and the erica-scented sea breeze lingers in the air and memory.

Sailing | Endeavour

Crafted in steel at Camper & Nicholson’s Gosport yard in 1934, Endeavour was built with one purpose: to reclaim the America’s Cup. She came agonisingly close — winning the first two races before a controversial protest and a shift in momentum saw the trophy remain in American hands.

What followed was decades of dereliction, a sale for just £10, and an extraordinary resurrection that began when American yachtswoman Elizabeth Meyer spotted the hulk in 1984. Rebuilt at Royal Huisman, she has since raced and cruised the world under a succession of devoted owners. We trace the full arc — from Sopwith’s ambition to the boat that still turns heads in every harbour she enters.

Travel | Lou Pinet, Saint Tropez

Set around landscaped gardens just steps from the historic Place des Lices, Lou Pinet is a Provençal-style villa hotel that channels the unhurried, retro glamour of the French Riviera at its most charming.

Part of the family-owned Maisons Pariente collection, the property was renovated in a classic 1960s style by architect Charles Zana — and this year welcomes a seasonal art residency with contemporary gallery Aurélien Gendras, bringing carefully curated pieces into a space already rich with colour, ceramics and Fauvist-inspired warmth. Lifestyle | Slim Aarons and Sailing's Golden Age

The Mediterranean yachting circuit only truly bloomed in the 1960s — a happy collision of post-war wealth, new marinas, fibreglass and the swift rise of celebrity culture. Cruising between the likes of Antibes' Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc, Saint Tropez's Hotel Byblos, The Sube and Portofino's Splendido Mare, the seafaring elite embraced the coastline like they owned it: joyful, sun-kissed and utterly at ease.

Fortunately, legendary lifestyle photographer Slim Aarons was there to capture the cultural moment forever. Curator, author and Aarons historian Shawn Waldron shares insights into the man and his mystique to introduce a photo essay from that heady, special time.
