This is a semi long read 🙄🙄
On this day, a year ago (10/09/2022)
I was just a 23 weeks and 4 days pregnant woman (6 months), I woke up beautifully that Saturday morning, anticipating to eat okro soup, which as at then was my newest found love!
Sadly, I didn’t have okro soup left, neither do I have Okro at home 😞
So, I told my hubby that I would need to go to the local market, and happily, it was a Saturday, when locals/farmers come to sell fruits and veggies… but my husband asked me to stay back but I really wanted to go, so he gave me some money to go and left for work.
I got off the bed and headed for the bathroom, then I felt splash 💦 of water, I was a bit surprised though, but I thought it was retained p*e, so I went in the tub to shower, then comes another water, now more frequent and much more, before I could finish bathing, my very big stomach has reduced like the size of my tummy at 8 weeks, that was when I realised, that my water (amniotic fluid) has ruptured, I quickly dressed up, tried calling my hubby, but he was working and of course without his phone…🤦♀️🤦♀️
I quickly called the ambulance, and in less than 10 minutes, they got to my house, checked me and immediately moved me to the hospital emergency.
They ran a quick scan on me and informed me their was no fluid left, my heart skipped, and questions was running through my head:
* What will become of my son?
* Why should this happen after waiting for 4 years?
* Has the baby formed to an extent? e.t.c. and google became my best friend at this moment.
I was admitted, by then my hubby had seen my voice note and rushed off to the hospital.
When he arrived, the Doctors (paediatricians and gynaecologist) informed us, that my baby is less than 24 weeks and that the chances of survival is very slim , but a medication will be administered to delay labour, hopefully for 3 days more, so he can be 24 weeks on the dot or more.
They also administered a treatment to protect his cerebral and to help his immature lungs 🫁, placed me on some antibiotics to prevent infection and that was how we started praying, hoping and counting days… 🙏
To be contd… please stay tuned 👂
