Spontaneous Groovin' Combustion (SGC) is a high-energy contemporary smooth jazz and funk collective from New York City, led by woodwind master, composer, and producer Warren A. Keller. Known for their groove-driven original instrumentals, SGC seamlessly blends sophisticated smooth jazz with infectious funk elements.

After making his mark as an NYC rocker in the '80s and as a Nashville songwriter in the '90s, Warren Keller returned to his ultimate passion in 2016, eventually launching SGC in 2019 to capture that pure, spontaneous, combustive energy. With more than 7 million streams worldwide and regular airplay on smooth jazz stations around the globe, SGC continues to deliver contemporary jazz with a powerful rhythmic pulse and unmistakable energy.

With "Toast of the Town," SGC serves up a melodic smooth jazz instrumental built around a distinctive lead 6-string bass and soaring soprano saxophone. The track combines a strong rhythmic foundation, polished production, and the immediacy of live musicianship, creating a sophisticated late-night groove with plenty of soul.

Rohn Lawrence – Hangin' on a String

Rohn Lawrence was an American guitarist from New Haven, Connecticut, whose playing moved naturally between smooth jazz, R&B, and funk. Largely self-taught, he developed a clean, expressive style built on melody, tone, and a strong sense of groove. Over the course of his career, he worked with artists including George Duke, Marion Meadows, and Najee.

Released in 1994, *Hangin' on a String* introduced Lawrence as a solo artist. The album reflects the sound of its time while leaving plenty of room for his guitar to breathe—smooth jazz shaped by R&B influences, understated funk, and carefully crafted arrangements.

The album includes “Holdin' On” and the relaxed “Out in the Park Til Dark.” Throughout the record, Lawrence keeps things melodic and unhurried, allowing tone and feel to carry the music.
