The little red tourist train at Playa de Palma is back and it instantly feels like summer again. 🚂❤️
Today the sun finally came out, the palm trees look brighter and the whole promenade feels more alive.

There’s something magical about riding this train along the coast, passing cafés, beaches and hotels while feeling the sea breeze through the open windows. It’s slow, nostalgic and somehow exactly the kind of simple joy we all need.

We’re sharing a photo from the Playa de Palma, taken exactly one year ago today. The streetlights look a little different now and the promenade has changed in small ways, but this picture remains one of our absolute favorites from 2024. It captures the feeling of the island perfectly — the light, the sea, the calm, the memories.

Amazing how time passes, but the magic of this place stays the same. 🌊💕

Quiet days at Playa de Palma. Join I ❤️ Playa de Palma | mallorcard.es. The sky is a little cloudy today but the charm never disappears. We’re close to El Arenal, around the area near Balneario 1–2, where the promenade is calm and the sea feels peaceful even in November.

Días tranquilos en la Playa de Palma. Hoy el cielo está un poco nublado pero la playa nunca pierde su encanto. Estamos cerca de El Arenal, a la altura del Balneario 1–2, donde el paseo está tranquilo y el mar se siente en paz incluso en noviembre.

A walk along the Playa de Palma toward Can Pastilla feels different in this season. I ❤️ Playa de Palma | mallorcard.es

The beach is quieter now, the air a little cooler, but the atmosphere is still full of life. Christmas decorations are already hanging above the promenade, waiting to be switched on, creating a soft sense of anticipation.

You can picture how magical it will look once the lights glow against the sea. The palm trees wrapped in glittering strands, the festive shapes suspended above the walkway, the reflections dancing on the water… all of it paused for just a moment longer.

People stroll past in sweaters and sunglasses, stopping to take photos of the decorations even before they shine. Cyclists roll by, cafés hum in the background, and the waves break gently on the sand as if nothing has changed.

It’s that beautiful time in between seasons — the calm before the lights, when the Playa de Palma is still itself, but already dreaming of Christmas.

Have you ever seen these strange little balls washed up on the beach in Can Pastilla? I ❤️ Playa de Palma | mallorcard.es
They look like coconuts or tumbleweed, but they’re actually something uniquely Mediterranean. These are Posidonia oceanica fiber balls, also known as Neptune balls or sea grass balls, and they form naturally when dead seagrass fibers roll back and forth in the waves until they become perfectly shaped spheres.

They only appear in certain seasons and only on beaches where the underwater meadows are healthy. Posidonia is not just any plant — it’s one of the most important ecosystems in the Mediterranean. It produces oxygen, protects the coastline from erosion, absorbs CO₂, and creates a habitat for hundreds of species.

When these fiber balls wash ashore, it’s a sign that nature is doing its work. They might not look glamorous, but they are proof that the sea around Mallorca is alive and breathing. So next time you spot them, you’re not looking at “beach dirt” — you’re looking at a tiny piece of the Mediterranean’s hidden life story.

A late afternoon walk in Can Pastilla…
The sun is softer now, the heat of summer has faded, and Mallorca has slipped into that gentle season where the air feels lighter but the sea still calls you in. The beach is quiet, the waves calmer, and a thin line of sea grass rests along the shore — a natural sign that autumn has arrived.

Locals stroll slowly, jackets tucked under their arms just in case, while the last swimmers step out of the water with salty hair and warm smiles. The breeze has changed, but the beauty hasn’t. There’s something special about this time of year… the kind of peaceful magic that makes you want to walk a little slower, look a little longer, and breathe it all in.

Can Pastilla in late season — still Mallorca, still the sea, just a different kind of paradise.
