🚨 RED ALERT FOR VALENCIA COAST: Storm Emilia brings torrential rain risk and possible flash flooding TODAY

Valencia is facing a serious weather day, with RED rain alerts now in force for parts of the region.

Here’s the key information first, straight from Emergencies 112CV and AEMET.

✅ OFFICIAL ALERTS (Comunitat Valenciana)
🟠 From 00.00: Orange rain alert across the whole province of Valencia.
🔴 From 12.00 today (Sunday, December 14): RED rain alert for the entire Valencia coastline.
🟠 Orange rain alert for inland Valencia.
🟠 Orange storm alert for the Valencia coastline.
🟡 Yellow storm alert for inland Valencia.
🟡 Yellow rain + storm alerts remain in place for Alicante and Castellón from 00.00.

🌧 WHAT AEMET IS SEEING RIGHT NOW
AEMET Comunitat Valenciana says the highest alert level today and tomorrow is RED for storms and heavy rain.
They report persistent overnight rain in La Safor and the far north of Marina Alta, with heavy bursts possible in the coastal mountain areas.
Elsewhere along the Valencia and Castellón coastline, rain has been lighter and more intermittent so far.
They’re also tracking rain cells out at sea moving towards land off the north Valencia coast.

❓ IS THIS LIKE THE OCTOBER 29 FLOODS?
Many of you have asked if this is the same as the October 29 deluge.

👉 Not exactly.
It’s a similar type of situation, but less rain is expected overall.
That said, the risk is still real — especially in the wrong places.

⚠️ WHY YOU STILL NEED TO TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY
Even if your town isn’t under the highest warning, heavy downpours can trigger flash floods and sudden rises in streams and gullies, especially near barrancos (dry riverbeds/ravines) and in low-lying areas.

✅ Don’t drive through floodwater.
✅ Avoid riverbeds, barrancos and flood-prone underpasses.
✅ Follow Protección Civil advice and local updates.

We’ll post further forecast updates as the alerts and models change through the day.
