Day 7 - Azamara Onward - Calvi, Corsica

Our last port of call on this sailing was Calvi in Corsica. It’s a small but beautiful port area and we needed a tender to get to shore.

To start, we took a walk around the citadel which is pretty high up with lots of steps taking you up! There’s some history to this port, including what’s believed to be Christopher Columbus house.

After walking through the small streets of the town, we made our way to the local beach where we spent some time. On our way back, we strolled along the water front, taking in the beautiful view before getting onto the tender boat.

Our afternoon was spent relaxing by the spa pool before going back to our cabin to pack ready for tomorrow.

For dinner, we ate in the main dining room and the food was excellent as always. We then went to the Cabaret Lounge to see the final show of the cruise. This was a rock themed show and the singers and dancers were great. It was a really nice end to what’s been a fantastic cruise

Day 6 - Azamara Onward - Nice

Nice was the next port of call on this sailing. The ship docked right in town so it was convenient for taking a walk around or catching public transport further afield.

We booked a tour where we hired an electric car and we were taken around the local area, taking in the sights. This part of France is beautiful! We booked this with a third party provider. It was a great way to see the area and we had a swim stop half way through too.

After the tour, we strolled back to the ship and had a late lunch before heading back to our balcony to relax for a little while. A little later, we went to the Living Room and attempted the pub quiz but we did so badly! This wasn’t our best quiz.

Later, it was time to get ready for dinner and we ate in Prime C again the food has been excellent throughout the cruise and we’ve eaten far too much! We only managed a starter and a main (which were both delicious) but we didn’t manage to squeeze in a dessert.

We decided to walk some laps of the track to work off some of those cruise calories and watch our sail away from port, which wasn’t until 10pm.

Tomorrow will be our final port, Calvi, Corsica

Day 5 - Azamara Onward - Sanary Sur Mer

The next stop on our cruise was Sanary Sur Mer in the south of France. We’ve visited on a previous cruise so it was nice to go back again.

We decided to spend the morning at one of the local beaches. The one we went to wasn’t sandy, it was more of a small pebble beach but it was a really nice place to relax. The sea was a bit chilly but we managed to get in!

The town itself is very pretty with a bustling local market, churches and gardens. We took a walk around the town and along the marina before heading back to the ship.

After a small lunch, we chose to relax on deck for a little while before getting ready for the evening.

Last night was what everyone had been waiting for - White Night! The food was amazing and the entertainment team were fantastic, keeping everyone on their feet and enjoying the evening. We really enjoyed the night on deck.

Tomorrow we have another Port day, Nice

Day 4 - Azamara Onward - Marseille

Marseille was the next port of call on this cruise and we were woken up by the fog horn being sounded on the way into port. We could barely see anything when we looked out of the window!

Our morning started with a relaxing breakfast before walking into Marseille. Azamara docks right in town so it’s easy to explore the local area. We’ve visited Marseille on a previous cruise so we decided to take a walk around the city.

Back on the ship, we decided to do some laps of the walking track. We’ve been eating lots of delicious food so a little bit of additional exercise was in order! After this, it was time for a bit of lunch so we ate in The Patio and had a burger each.

Our afternoon was spent relaxing a little and having to do a little bit of work before getting ready for the Azamazing evening on board. There was a cast of French performers with a selection of acts from dancers to footballers and a contortionist.

For dinner, we went to Aqualina. The food here is very good and we enjoyed all of the dishes that we had again.

We ended our evening on our balcony, watching the sun going down and sailing away from port.

Our next port of call tomorrow is Sanary Sur Mer

Day 3 - Azamara Onward - Sète

The next port of call on this cruise was Sète in France. We docked pretty much right in town and it was easy to walk to. There are red plaques on the floor that guide you there which helps!

We walked along the canal before heading up hill to the lighthouse and lookout point. It was a hard walk in the heat! We started to make our way down and stopped in the museum of local life on our way. This was free to visit. Back in town, you’ll also find boat trips from €10pp as well as a trolley train tour.

After strolling back along the waterfront, we made our way back to this ship and had a small lunch in the Windows Cafe. We both had spa treatments booked for the afternoon so we headed up to the spa after lunch. The treatments were great and very relaxing!

After this, we relaxed on our balcony for a little while before getting ready for dinner. We ate in Discoveries, which is the main dining room on Onward. The food was delicious and we enjoyed it all! We then went to The Living Room where an ABBA party was taking place.

Have you been to Sète before? What did you think of it?

Tomorrow, our next port of call is Marseille

Day 2 - Azamara Onward - PalamĂłs

Our first port of call on this cruise was Palamós in Spain. It’s a small village in the Catalunya region where you can take excursions to a local winery or the Dali castle.

We had an excursion booked but it was cancelled due to operational reasons so we decided to take a walk around the town before spending some time at the beach. It’s an easy 10 minute walk into town but if you struggle to walk, there is a shuttle that will take you there and back but it does stop at 1.30.

Once back on board, we had a bit of lunch before relaxing on the Sanctum Terrace.

We had dinner booked in Prime C which is the steakhouse and the food was delicious! There was so much of it and our waiter was fantastic. We really enjoyed our experience there.

After dinner, we went straight to the Cabaret Lounge for the Captains introductions to the senior team before watching the production show.

Our evening ended watching Vibz in The Living Room before heading to bed.

The next port of call tomorrow will be Sete, France

Day 1 - Azamara Onward - Barcelona

Yesterday we boarded the beautiful Onward in Barcelona. We have 7 nights on board, visiting ports in Spain and the south of France.

Boarding was a breeze and we were greeted with a nice cold glass of champagne! Our first day was spent mostly relaxing and eating. This cruise is port intensive with no sea days so we took the opportunity to have a relaxing day before all of the exploring to come.

For lunch, we ate in the Windows Cafe. We watched the sail away up on deck, where the house band were playing. It was a great start to the cruise!

Dinner was in the speciality restaurant Aqualina. This is a Mediterranean style restaurant with lots of delicious options! We both ended up having 4 courses and we enjoyed every single dish we had.

Our evening ended with some piano music in The Den, the production show in The Cabaret Lounge and the house band in The Living Room.

Tomorrow is our first port of call, Palamos, Spain
