An Umbrella Organization for the Muslim Community of Liberia
The National Muslim Council of Liberia (NMCL) is an umbrella organization representing and coordinating Islamic organizations, mosques, scholars, institutions, and Muslim communities across Liberia.
The Council serves as a bridge between the Government of Liberia and the Muslim community, while working to promote the welfare, unity, development, and peaceful coexistence of Muslims throughout the country.
The National Muslim Council of Liberia Primary Responsibilities:
1. Represent Muslims in national affairs and provide a unified platform for engagement with the Government of Liberia and other national institutions.
2. Facilitate communication and cooperation between the government and Islamic organizations, mosques, schools, scholars, and Muslim communities.
3. Promote unity and cooperation among Islamic organizations and communities across Liberia.
4. Advocate for the welfare and interests of Muslims and contribute to addressing social, educational, economic, and humanitarian needs.
5. To coordinate Islamic activities and initiatives at national and community levels.
7. Promote peaceful coexistence, religious tolerance, and national unity among Muslims and people of all faiths.
8. Support Islamic education and encourage the development of Quranic schools, Islamic learning institutions, scholars, teachers, and youth programs.
9. Encourage community development through charitable, humanitarian, educational, and social initiatives.
10. Assist in resolving challenges and disputes within the Muslim community through consultation, dialogue, mediation, and Islamic principles.
11. Provide a platform for consultation among Islamic leaders and organizations on matters affecting Muslims and the nation.
How the Council Works?
The National Muslim Council operates through cooperation and consultation with Islamic organizations, mosques, scholars, community leaders, youth, women, and other stakeholders within the Muslim community.
The Council may establish or work through national, regional, county, district, and community structures to ensure that the concerns and needs of Muslims throughout Liberia are properly represented.
The Council also encourages member organizations to share information, participate in national programs, attend consultations and meetings, and work together on initiatives that benefit the wider Muslim community.
