LANZAROTE NEWS HEADLINES FOR FRIDAY 12.06.26
Two people have died following a head on crash involving a TUI coach and a car. The coach contained the driver and 8 passengers, one of which was injured. The car contained 2 adults who died on impact and an 8 year old child, who was taken to the islands hospital for a check up. The accident happened on the LZ 2 close to the Repsol Petrol station between Yaiza and Playa Blanca.
Speaking in Gran Canaria yesterday Pope Leo XIV addresed the migrant issue by saying "One cannot speak of dignity and allow the seas to be cemeteries" and went on to say that "The migratory drama must become an examination of conscience" In a moving speech the Pope added "It is not enough to manage arrivals, distribute figures, reinforce borders or lament deaths when they have already occurred. Every boat that arrives does not just bring migrants; it brings with it a question: what world have we built, if so many brothers have to risk death to seek life?".
General secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo has hit back at recent damning reports saying Its "A campaign of false accusations to politically wear her down" The general secretary has assured that she is not indicted or investigated and links the complaint to the electoral strategy for 2027.
