LANZAROTE NEWS HEADLINES FOR THURSDAY 10.07.25

Places to rent now in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are like gold dust to find, but if you're lucky enough to find a property the average price now is 1.100euros. In a report released yesterday it is estimated that the supply of rentals will be reduced in 2025 by 2% compared to 2024. On mainland Spain Barcelona led the way in rental prices. Their average prices are now over 1.600 euros.

Seprona are investigating a Haría resident for the death of several cats and a dog in Charco del Palo! The investigation has arisen after numerous episodes of attacks perpetrated by at least three dogs owned by the investigated party were documented. Three are domestic cats that have been identified with a microchip, and one other cat is believed to have been feral. Two dogs owned by neighbours in the area were also injured, one dog later died from its injuries. As a result of the investigation, proceedings have been initiated which have been sent to the Investigating Court in Arrecife.

LANZAROTE NEWS HEADLINES FOR WEDNESDAY 09.07.25

A kids summer camp organized by the Arrecife city council is under fire after an autistic child was expelled after just two and a half days. The Lanzarote Association reported that they found it astonishing and unacceptable that their was no support at the camp for the 6 year old child. They added, "Inclusion is not about turning a camp into a therapeutic center, but about adapting ordinary environments so that all children can participate on equal terms."

Just a day after opening for the summer season a large dog broke loose and killed another smaller one on Saturday in the Papagayo Camping Area, reported La Voz. Sources from the Yaiza City Council said that the animal that fatally attacked the other "was not a potentially dangerous breed and that "it was an isolated event." The dog is no longer in the Papagayo campsite and currently the process is being judicially processed. For the moment, it has not transpired what will happen to the animal.

After yesterdays news regarding Lanzarote bound passengers being stuck in Madrid it has happened again, but this time people got stuck in Tenerife. There has been severe fog and wind that has caused chaos at their North Airport, an estimated 100 people were set to fly on Sunday but were told to wait, some had accommodation that was provided, others didn't. One person said they were told sleep on a mat outside the airport. Many were still waiting yesterday to get to Lanzarote via their Binter flights. Binter Staff members had to witness and receive verbal abuse from some ticket holders.

Buenavista Infrastructure, a management company specializing in infrastructure investments, and Nauplia Capital, the largest network of marinas in Spain, have acquired a majority stake in the Arrecife marina. However, Calero Marinas will continue to also be a shareholder and will maintain the operational management of the asset together with Nauplia Capital. Lanzarote Marina has 378 moorings for rent, 84 commercial premises and terraces, in addition to being a dry dock prepared for large yachts. The dry dock has an area of almost 17,000 m2 and the entire marina occupies approximately 100,000 square meters.

LANZAROTE NEWS HEADLINES FOR MONDAY 07.07.25

Ryanair made the headlines again for the wrong reason after a flight from Madrid was cancelled whilst passengers were sitting on the plane waiting to take off. The passengers had already been waiting for over 2 hours inside the airport before finally boarding the plane. Then the flight was cancelled because Lanzarote airport closes at 1am and the flight would not of landed before the airport closed. Passengers were then taken back to the terminal and according to several passengers they were then completely abandoned without information, transportation, or accommodation. "They literally told us to fend for ourselves," says one of those affected.

The Papagayo Camping Area opened on Friday. The summer campaign has started with optimism, thanks to the excellent occupancy forecasts and the novelties implemented in recent weeks, which consolidate this venue as a benchmark for domestic tourism in the Canary Islands. The management of the Area led by Councilor Samuel Martín has facilitated the incorporation of important improvements in infrastructure during the year so far. These include actions in the energy supply, the optimization of supplies and accesses, as well as the modernization of the common areas, thus raising the quality of the service offered to residents and visitors.
