Dr Nuuree ani ijoollummaa isaa irraa isa beeka. Nama sirnaati. Nama naamusaati. Nama sabaaf quuqamu kan ogummaa qabuun murannoon saba isaa tajaajiluu dha. Nama jabaa bitaa fi mirga adda baafatee beeku kan bakka itti subbatu beeku kan waan dubbatuuf beekuu dha. Darbees goota, jagna! Qaroo sabaati! Sochii qeerroo keessatti nama qooda guddaa qabuu dha. Garuu erga siyaasni biyyattii sanii borcamee asi siyaasa kamuu keessa akka hin jirre ani ragaa bayaaf. News has spread that Dr. Nuredin Luke has been arrested. For now, it is difficult to distinguish whether this is true or false, but if it is true, then we must ask a serious question: Why was Dr. Nuredin arrested?
The reason is clear—because in that country, under the grip of bandits and kleptocratic system, it has become common for innocent people, who have no involvement in politics, to be arrested without any cause.
I have known Dr. Nuredin since his childhood. He is a man of discipline, a man of integrity, a man who serves his people with knowledge, skill, and unwavering commitment. He is someone who can distinguish between right and wrong, who knows where to stand, and who speaks with wisdom. He is a hero, and the intellectual pride of the Oromo people. He played a major role in the Qeerroo movement.
However, since the political order of this country collapsed and since the assassination of Hachalu Hundessa, Dr. Nuredin has not participated in politics in any form—neither physically nor intellectually. He has no involvement in politics. He has never opposed the government. He has never criticized the ruling party.
Therefore, the arrest and persecution of Dr. Nuredin is nothing but a crime, a conspiracy by those who want to suppress Oromo intellectuals and silence the bright minds of the nation. Whoever arrested him is nothing more than a bandit and an oppressor that the Oromo people will never accept.
Dr. Nuredin has no reason whatsoever to be imprisoned! He has no hand in politics!
Thus, we raise our voices to demand his immediate release.
