🇪🇹 Who is Hasset Dereje Admassu ,
Miss World 1st Runner-Up and Miss World Africa 2025?

A symbol of intellect and determination, Hasset Dereje Admassu, 19, made history at the 72nd Miss World Festival in Telangana, India. Representing Ethiopia, she was crowned 1st Runner-Up and awarded the prestigious title of Miss World Africa, marking the most significant achievement for Ethiopia in the history of Miss World.

Born in Addis Ababa, Hasset is a second-year Chemical Engineering student at Addis Ababa Science and Technology University. Fluent in both Amharic and English, she is the embodiment of academic ambition, cultural pride, and global perspective.

Her journey through the competition was nothing short of remarkable. She placed in the Top 24 of the Talent Challenge and was among the Top 32 in the Sports Challenge, a testament to her versatility, focus, and commitment to excellence.

But Hasset’s success goes far beyond placements. In her presentation video, she spoke powerfully about the need to reframe global narratives around Ethiopia and Africa, urging the world to move beyond outdated stereotypes and recognize a country and continent rich in resilience, beauty, and progress.

Her accomplishment is a celebration of a new chapter, for Ethiopia, for Africa, and for every young woman daring to dream.
