AMN Plus -November 6/2025

Delegates attending the Chatham House Conference in Addis Ababa on “Africa’s Rising Influence: Advancing Agency in Foreign Policy and Global Governance” paid a special visit to the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum, drawing inspiration from Ethiopia’s historic triumph that shaped African resilience and unity.

The conference, organized in partnership with Amani Africa and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), brought together representatives from leading think tanks, research institutions from Africa and Europe, and regional organizations, including the African Union (AU), SADC, and IGAD. The visit was hosted by Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Addis Ababa City Administration.

At the Adwa Memorial, delegates explored exhibits highlighting Ethiopia’s decisive victory at the Battle of Adwa, a moment that safeguarded the nation’s sovereignty and ignited Pan-African and anti-colonial movements across the continent. Many expressed deep admiration for Ethiopia’s enduring spirit of independence and its pivotal role in African history.

The delegation also toured Unity Park, where they experienced Ethiopia’s vibrant cultural heritage and the powerful message of unity and national pride the landmark embodies.
