The color grading pushed us further than ever: one of our most experimental and technically demanding works to date.

With 100+ VFX shots integrated into live-action footage, the real challenge wasn’t just compositing, it was consistency. Every frame required careful modulation of film intensity and color contrast to maintain a seamless filmic emulation from start to finish.

Starting from a fully digital capture, we sculpted a deliberate digital-to-film transformation, shaping contrast, density, and chroma response to echo layered Kodak film characteristics while preserving modern clarity.

We explored multiple narrative directions and tested over six distinct look structures before defining the final visual language. The process involved blending and sampling various film stock behaviors to build a cohesive aesthetic balancing:
• Vibrant green plates
• Golden tonal warmth
• Subtle blue undertones
• Moody cinematic density

This wasn’t about applying a LUT. It was about crafting response curves, refining color separation, and designing a unified filmic identity from a digital negative.

Now it’s time to appreciate the greatest colorist .yonas

🎨 The color direction wasn’t about making everything look similar, it was about letting each scene live in its own mood. Trying to match the tones of kodak with eastman kodak textural look with 2383 photo chemical prints

From the start, the colorist Eyob explored different looks with the Director and DP , searching for tones that matched the story and the locations. Then he tested various film prints and looks until we found one that lived right between emotion and texture.

He drew inspiration from Shōgun and Jill Bogdanowicz’s grades, studying how they shape color and grain, then built our world from there. Every choice, from the print stock to the grain and texture, was carefully matched between the footages.
It’s all in the details; the color, the texture, the feeling. 🎞️✨
