CBE Surpasses ETB 2.4 Trillion in Deposits, Marking Historic Financial Achievement.

The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) has reached a landmark milestone in its history, surpassing ETB 2.4 trillion in total customer deposits following an exceptional performance during the 2025/26 fiscal year.

According to the bank, CBE mobilized more than ETB 707.4 billion in new deposits over the past year, bringing its total deposit portfolio to over ETB 2.4 trillion one of the strongest annual performances ever recorded by Ethiopia's largest commercial bank.
The achievement underscores the bank's growing financial strength, expanding customer base, and continued role as a cornerstone of Ethiopia's banking industry. It also reflects increasing public confidence in CBE's financial services and its ability to support the country's evolving economic landscape.

With a deposit base exceeding ETB 2.4 trillion, CBE is further enhancing its capacity to finance large-scale development projects, support private sector investment, facilitate trade, and expand access to financial services across Ethiopia.

On this day in 2016, Ethiopian Airlines took delivery of its first Airbus A350-900, becoming the first airline in Africa to operate Airbus' latest widebody aircraft. The milestone marked a major step in the carrier's long-haul fleet renewal and expansion plans.

The aircraft (ET-ATQ) departed Airbus' Toulouse facility shortly before 03:00 after a formal handover event. The timing allowed it to arrive in Addis Ababa at around 10:00 for an official welcome ceremony.

Later that day, the aircraft completed a nearly two-and-a-half-hour demonstration flight over Ethiopia before celebrations continued into the evening.

The A350-900 has since become a key part of Ethiopian Airlines' long-haul network, operating routes across Africa, Europe, Asia and North America.

Today, the airline operates one of Africa's largest A350 fleets including both the A350-900 and larger A350-1000, supporting its continued international growth and network expansion.
