Haramaya University extends its heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Abdi Jibril Ali, a distinguished graduate and former Associate Dean of HU’s College of Law, on his election to the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

Dr. Abdi Jibril has been serving as the Commissioner for Socio-Economic and Cultural Rights at the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission. He secured this prestigious position with the overwhelming support of 49 member states of the 54-member UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), winning one of the two seats allocated to the African region.

According to the information we get from the FDRE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdi will serve a four-year term as one of the Committee’s 18 independent experts, monitoring the implementation of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR).

We are immensely proud of Dr. Abdi Jibril’s achievement, which reflects the calibre of legal education and leadership nurtured at Haramaya University College of Law. We wish him great success and integrity in advancing economic, social and cultural rights on the global stage.

የቤተሰብ ቀንን ምንክንያት በማድረግ ለሐረማያ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ሰራተኞች ሥልጠና ተሰጠ

የቤተሰብ ቀንን ምክንያት በማድረግ በሐረማያ ዩኒቨርሲቲ የሴቶችና ማህበራዊ ጉዳዮች አካቶ ትግበራ አዘጋጅነት በዩኒቨርሲቲው የአስተዳደር እርከን ለሚገኙ ዘጠና ሰራተኞች የቤተሰብ ምንነትን በተመለከተ የግንዛቤ ማስጨበጫ ሥልጠና ተሰጥቷል።

ሥልጠናው በዋናነት ወላጆች ለሀገር ግንባታ የሚጠቅሙና ሥነ-ምግባር ያላቸውን ዜጎች በማፍራት ረገድ ያላቸውን ሚና ለማጠናከር ያለመ መሆኑን በዳይሬክቶሬቱ የማኅበራዊ ጉዳይ አካቶ ትግበራ ባለሙያ ወይዘሮ ማናሉሽ ወርቁ ገልጸዋል።

ጠንካራ ማኅበረሰብና ብሔራዊ አንድነት ያላት ሀገር መገንባት የሚችል ትውልድ ለማፍራት ትልቁን ድርሻ የሚይዘው ቤተሰብ ነው ያሉት በሐረማያ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ሞዴል ትምህርት ቤት ዳይሬክተርና ሥልጠናውን የሰጡት አቶ ስዩም ሸጋ ወላጆች ልጆቻቸውን በምን መልኩ ማሳደግና ማብቃት እንዳለባቸው የሚያስገነዝብ ሥልጠና መስጠታቸውን ተናግረዋል።

አክለውም ከቤተሰብ ባለፈ ለሀገር አስተዋጽኦ የሚያበረክቱ ዜጎችን ለመፍጠር እንዲህ ያሉ ሥልጠናዎች በስፋት ሊዘጋጁ እንደሚገባ አሳስበዋል።

ከሥልጠናው በኋላ አስተያየታቸውን የሰጡት ወይዘሮ መፍቱሀ ሙሜ፣ አቶ ጥሩነህ ክፍሌና ወይዘሮ የኔነሽ ፈለቀ በበኩላቸው፤ ልጆች በሀገር ፍቅር ታንጸው ለታላቅ አገልግሎት እንዲበቁ ከመሠረቱ በምን መልኩ ማሳደግና ማብቃት እንደሚገባ ከስልጠናው ግንዛቤ ማግኘታቸውን ጠቅሰዋል።

በቀጣይም ያገኙትን ዕውቀት በተግባር ላይ በማዋል ኃላፊነታቸውን በአግባቡ ለመወጣት ዝግጁ መሆናቸውን ለሐረማያ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ማህበረሰብ ሬዲዮ ጣቢያ ሐዩ.ኤፍ.ኤም 91.5 ገልጸዋል።

Haramaya University and Sheger Institute of Technology Sign Strategic MoU

Haramaya University (HU) and Sheger Institute of Technology (SIT) have officially signed a strategic MoU to strengthen collaboration in education, research, innovation, and community development.

This partnership supports national efforts in digital transformation, scientific research, technology transfer, and human capital development through joint research, student exchange, and community-focused initiatives.

At the event founder of the Sheger Institute of Technology (SIT), Dr. Berhanu Bulcha highlighted the power of partnerships in advancing Ethiopia’s development goals, especially through youth empowerment, student mobility, and collaborative research that prepares the next generation of scientists and engineers.

The President of Haramaya University, Dr. Jemal Yousuf, reaffirmed HU’s strong legacy of impactful partnerships. He emphasized that this agreement will strengthen digital governance, expand student exchange programs, and leverage SIT’s international network to co-develop research solutions for critical community challenges.

This MoU opens new doors for enhanced teaching and learning, improved e-governance, and the solicitation of joint projects that reinforce the role of both institutions in Ethiopia’s socio-economic transformation.
