Statement on the Recent False Reporting by Oromia 11 Media

We, the concerned community members , express our deep concern over the ongoing false historical distortions reported by Oromia 11 Media, which have been affecting the Borana and Guji regions for the past two and a half years. This misrepresentation is particularly troubling as it relates to the annexation of land that includes Borana's traditional spiritual sites into the Guji Zone, a process that was originally driven by the previous regime's decision to demarcate land for settlers over the past 15 years.

We strongly urge Oromia 11 Media to cease reporting misleading and incorrect claims without verifying the historical facts. Such reporting only serves to incite unnecessary conflict and division between neighboring Oromo communities, which have coexisted peacefully for generations. The settlers’ claims, which are not rooted in historical truth, should not be presented as facts without careful verification and understanding of the region's history.

We call on Oromia 11 Media and all responsible media outlets to prioritize accuracy, historical integrity, and responsible journalism to prevent the escalation of tensions between Borana and Guji communities. Let us all work together to foster peace, understanding, and cooperation, rather than perpetuate divisions based on falsehoods.
