As drought and climate change drive prey species to their lowest numbers since 1999 Human / Wildlife conflicts in North Western Namibia are on the rise.

Led by the son of a Himba tribal leader who dedicates his life to saving both people and predators, we journey deep into some of the most remote and inhospitable terrain in this rugged region.

Poacher turned protector, Linus Mbomboro leads a team of fearless Lion rangers through the rocky riverbeds and mountains of Kaokoland. These Himba heroes chase Lions from kraals in the dead of night, track problem animals and protect communities using both new and old technology.

We meet the victim of a gruesome attack and visit the farmers who live in fear. The killer who turned to the trigger long before Rangers intervened tells us his tale.

Through conflict and tranquillity, we explore the lives of the traditional Himba herdsmen and women, who find peace and love for their land while dodging daily deadly conflicts with desert lions.

This is their home, let them tell you their stories.

It makes me smile from ear to ear knowing my ancestors were out there documenting wildlife and culture before I was even thought of!

Journeys through the oldest desert on earth!

A vast frontier carved out by millions of years of ocean currents and tidal swells, shaped by timeless tides and wild winds, sculpting sand and stone into one of the wildest places on Earth.

A piece of my heart will always be in these sand dunes!

Finally home after 29 Flights, 12 Countries, 3 Continents and over 10 000Km of driving!

Taking time to reflect on the vast landscapes and fragile ecosystems that have inspired the journey and catching up on a bit of BTS.

These are a few snaps from my home country, Namibia - where it all began!

I’m incredibly grateful to have passed through my old “backyard”while getting to work on a film that’s been driving me for over 4 years!

A few grabs from a short film I produced, directed and DP’d as part of my MA.

Joanna Williams is an incredibly talented, passionate artist, who draws inspiration from nature! She is the prime example of how and why wild spaces should be preserved and the importance nature and access to nature play in all our lives!

Her forge can be found on the banks of the Underfell Yard in Bristol Harbour and she’s always open to people dropping into her gallery to say hi!

Huge thanks to for assisting with lighting and rigging for this shoot!

An extremely proud moment, getting to meet the Minister of Environment and Tourism in Kunene a few days ago!

Namibia has one of the most progressive conservation systems on Earth and was set up to help benefit people and wildlife! The work these guys do is light years ahead of predator and human wildlife conflict management in Europe and America and I’m extremely proud to be working with two fantastic organisations, the IRDNC and MET in making this film a reality.

The Namaqua Chameleon

The desert chameleon can go for many months without drinking water. Some chameleons in the Namib desert might never drink water in their entire lives. Like we have sweat glands in our skin, the chameleon has special ducts through which it can rehydrate itself from fog or moisture condensed on it’s body!
