Few more posts!

After 2020, the exhibitions were not so many in Makkaragalleria. Events were not to be held, or there were limitations. Also, the sausages started crawling out of the back kitchen into more and more fridges & freezers in our shop & gallery space! The odd combo had slowly been turning into an actual sausage shop (?).

We did have though some wonderful artists visiting in 2020, as in these photos: Johanna Lindholm writing on our window & "Geisha" from the exhibition, newspaper article with Makkaragalleria being mentioned,Tanja Nyo posing on a ladder & detail of her painting, Hietsun Liha & old posters printed with antique wooden letters, LUPU with colorful paintings and finally during December-February 2021 Paula Huhtanen and her spotted ITE-art.

It's great to look back at the photographs and remember all our exhibitions, hanging them, holding opening events and the people joining them. I only wish I would have documented more!

Here's the end of the year 2019: Sisko Määttä's "Tunnelmia luonnosta" nature -themed paintings, Eeva Huotari exhibited graphic art "Cats", Kevin Stewart's photography, Bessie Baudin's photography all the way from Paris, and the third in the streak of photograhy: Eero Jääskeläinen's light paintings. We also had a joined Xmas exhibition at the end of the year!

2019 arrives!

Makkaragalleria was dividing opinions for sure: some artists would not want to have their works presented next to a sausage shop while others would consider it an advantage. Some drew their inspiration from it! Some suggested a name change, to which I would answer: - Even if I would start calling the place something else, people would still be referring to it as "the sausage gallery"(!) 🤷‍♀️

However you received it, it was a special combination of food for eyes and bellies, right? 😁

In the photos: Matthew Rusting-Morey was hanging his "Lichen Overlooked" -paintings while Feri was getting interviewed, Susanne Snellman brought her oil paintings (and friends) to us, Jari Lonka exhibited Talvikukkia and Eila Lehtonen her "Pour Une Fois".

In the summer of 2018 our gallery was showing new design of MAKKARA bags by Marcell Kismartoni while the floor got changed into stylish tiles. In the photos are also: paintings by Pekka Poutiainen and Agnieszka Polvela, dialogue of paintings between sisters Anna & Eeva Korhonen and one of the most diverse Xmas exhibitions ever within our tiny gallery.

As we are physically travelling to Kainuu and beyond, I continue to post past years of Makkaragalleria. There were lots of different people and art work there! All unique in their own way - the richness of it during those six years! Here we are on the first half of 2018. There you go now ❤️

Here comes 2016! 😁 (the beginning)

That's when we decided to have an art gallery in our little shop, next to hand crafting sausages. It seems like an odd combination, or a random act, BUT it came together rather naturally. What else to do with an empty wall in the middle of the city? - Invite friends, strangers, talented and creative people to show what they do!

Good bye to Makkara gallery! It was a fun little place, had many friendly exhibitions, from the April 2016 until the spring of 2022.

I will still have to dig deep into the depths of our files to gather all the painters, photographers, graphic artists etc. to tag ALL of you here to thank you for the past co-operations, exhibitions and opening events we had. Therefore there will be some last posts to come.

Viimeaikainen eristyneisyys on lisännyt läheisyyden ja yhteisyyden kokemisen tarvetta ja arvostusta. Rakkaus kumpuaa puhtaasta sydämestä. Kumpainenkin taiteilija on luonut tästä monitahoisesta ja syvällisestä aiheesta omanlaistaan sisältöä Peppi Tampereella ja Eija Helsingissä. Prosessin aikana he ovat kommunikoineet toistensa kanssa kuva- ja tekstiviestein.

PURE HeART -Installation
Collaboration between visual artist and textile designer, Pure HeArt is a single-wall installation consisting of Peppi Kankkonen’s paintings and hardened cross stitch letters by Eija Zweygberg.

Recent isolation has increased the need and appreciation for experiencing intimacy and community. Love springs from a pure heart. Both artists have created their own content on this complex and profound topic – Peppi in Tampere and Eija in Helsinki. During the process, they have communicated with each other via pictures and text messages.
