Vanhelgd is my number one, I felt that pretty early that this one will be in the top 3-5 and that’s also the case! Love this album and it is also the album I’ve listened to the most this year. Great job from the Mjölby guys and I hope to see them
live 2025.
Horndal is my number two, another top album from the Levahn brothers. They really found a style of their own and they are a great live band as well. Keep up the good work!
Kite is my number three, yes I know, it’s not a new album. It’s actually a compilation of singles. BUT, I decide over my aoty list so I put them here simply because they are a great band which I discovered this year (better late than never). Can’t wait for new material.
Opeth is my number four, I basically had given up on these guys come to new music. Still love lots of their old stuff but since they changed musical direction I lost interest. Now this is something else, the new release is fantastic and I for one didn’t see it coming. This will spin a lot 2025. Still wonder why Åkerfeldt can admit in interviews that it’s called growling. (Not screams)😊
Blood Incantation is my number five, also a band I pretty much discovered this year, listened to some of their earlier stuff but it didn’t really caught my attention. Their new album sure did though. Love their unique style of death metal, I will listen a lot on this one and hopefully catch them live soon.
6-10 I will just say this: great albums all of them and I’m looking forward to see Thåström live in February 🤘🤘
