To Happynote team (from Arpan)
It was september 2016... my first day in Finland... I missed a flight from Helsinki to Joensuu and waiting for the next one. That was the time when I met a family in airport who had to leave their country due to war. It was a short 'get to know each other' but it incepted an idea in me... An idea for an experimental short film...
After that I spent 1.5 year to implement the film but failed in all ways. Most of the time, friends or people I knew (who showed interest in taking part in a short film project) refused to take part in that very film because they thought - ' I cant return to my country ', ' I wont get a US visa ever ', ' its sensative issue and it can affect my political career ', ' people can misinterpret our message and think we are playing victimist' etc. etc. if they involved in that movie. And I was kind of gave up on the project.
But then it was summer... May/June 2018... I met a group of wonderful people... Who adore my idea... Let my project grow and prosper... Without any budget or fund... Without socalled professional crew or cast... Just with passion and mutual coherence we made the film... For 'support for asylum seekers' project... For Peace...
And who were my cast and crew? Nationalities from all continents, who never had to act on my story, for the roles... because they were my story... They were the characters... Their life experience... Their protests... Our protests... And hope for a better world...
That summer was warmer while we shot the film... Not just because of climate change... Because we were close... Burning together... And showing our brushes to the world through the camera...
I really dont care that many festival rejected this movie just because the topic is 'sensitive' to include... Or not ' technically stunning'... You know why? Because at the end, all I remember and wanna keep with me is the moments you guys created and all that matter is how good we were in telling the truth...
I request everyone to 'waste' 15 min of their corona lockdown to watch our film... And their feedback in the comments...
Life is a symphony and we are merely the notes... Lets be a happy one...together...
