Tencent now generates over 2 billion dollars from music streaming subscriptions.

Annual subscription revenue surged 25.9% YoY in 2024 to USD $2.12 billion for 2024 from $1.71 billion in 2023, this boost is due to the addition of SVIP tier

Tencent Music noted that over 8% of its subscribers are Super VIP, equivalent to 10 million users.

A SVIP subscription costs around $5,50 per month, five times as much as a regular $1,10 subscription.

The success of Tencent Music’s SVIP tier comes at a particularly interesting time as Spotify is reportedly preparing to launch its own super-premium tier

Tencent Music says it now offers 260 million licensed and co-created tracks on its platform, significantly more than Spotify’s “over 100 million.”

For the whole year, TME’s revenue from online music services jumped 25.5% YoY to $3.02bn from $2.45bn in 2023.

AI Generated music suffers another blow.

South Korea’s largest music copyright collective (the Korean Music Copyright Association - KOMCA) just banned registration of songs created with AI.

“Currently, there are no clear legal standards or management plans for music utilizing AI, so the association is holding off on registration when AI-utilized music is reported,” KOMCA said in a statement.

South Korea’s largest music copyright collective has introduced a new rule requiring creators to guarantee that AI wasn’t used to write songs when registering those new songs with the organization.

“You must agree to confirm and guarantee that the work you are reporting did not utilize AI and was created solely through human creative contributions,” KOMCA stated.

"Her Snakeness" is a concept album. It is the continuation of the first album "So in my mind...", and it represent a kind of virtual su***de have in place to be reborn in a new way.

The artist feel disavowing her being in order to be accepted by people she loved. With rage, calls into question the relationships with lovers and parents. Then she destroys everything in order to rebuild the same relationships in a different and truer way.

The notion of time, continuously harassing Silversnake, come back in every song and it merges sometimes with the notion of space. Clock is ticking, relentlessly reducing the gap to the end of our life's journey.

"Her Snakeness" brings out the most instinctive and reptile side of human being. It bases facts on senses. But senses, over time, are deceptive and unstable.

"Her Snakeness" is a "pending" album, a circular logic preventing the artist from coming out of a sceptical reaction to everything around her. A reaction separating her even more from truth.

The snake (蛇) is the sixth of the twelve-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar.
