Gost and Blood Music were both bedroom projects.

I think James worked out of his garage or a room in his home.

And I worked either from bed or my sofa.

There was one brief moment in the timeline of this universe where a couple of troublemakers, living in separate continents, just pressing buttons at home hit #1 on the Billboard dance albums chart. We also charted in the UK.

Similar happened on "Non Paradisi." I even submitted that record to the Grammy Awards. Of course, no one called us back. 😂

Gost backstage with Perturbator and Dynatron in Helsinki, 2016.

The gig sold out in 48 hours and was literally the top-selling concert in the entire country at that time (shown on the ticket seller's website).

Many people flew to Finland from around Europe to attend.

This was right after the release of "Non Paradisi," "The Uncanny Valley," "The Rigel Axiom," and Tommy '86 "Transhumanism" (he also performed).

Gost performing in front of a sold out crowd in Kyiv, exactly ten years ago.

As far as I know, it was the first synthwave tour.

GosT toured with Perturbator and Dan Terminus in a sketchy van with lots of strange experiences along the way.

I remember getting random messages everyday:

"We played in front of 1000 people in Belarus."
"We played in front of 2 people in Switzerland."
"Some fan asked me to sign their passport."

Before this, it was just a series of bedroom electro projects, mostly visible in YouTube views and Bandcamp collections.

On this album, he wanted to shift the character of Baalberith into something less cartoon-like - and more mystical and dark.

James Lollar's passing is very hard to process.

We were close from 2014-2019. He's the musician I talked with the most during the busy years of the label.

We chatted through Facebook, sharing music and talking about life.

We only met in person a few times, but he was one of the warmest, gentlest, most collaborative people you could imagine.

Furthermore, he always stood up for other people and what he felt was right.

I am extremely proud to be a part of the early years of Gost.

And this has sent me spiraling through that whole era of early synthwave/darksynth and the kind of scene all of us built together.

I have the original art for "Behemoth" hanging in my living room, as well as the original art for "Non Paradisi" and "Possessor" in my bedroom. I'm reminded of James every single day.

This morning, I compiled a folder of photos of GosT - probably some outtakes that were never published. Maybe I will post them over time.
