Jimi Tenor visited with his cool fresh band at Tampere G-Livelab this Spring! Jimi is always worth seeing when in town. This gig had special treat when Lauri was playing guitar, Heikki was playing tuba, replacing bass. When Lauri switch to bass, Heikki switch to trombone! Also Eeti and Ekow took turns behind drums and percussion. Not to forget local legend Ismaila Sane who guest starred behind percussion for a couple of tracks. Rich sound!

Heikki Sarmanto & Juhani Aaltonen. Friends and both of them are Finnish jazz legends! Had a pleasure to see these gentlemen playing through their new album in March at Cafe Carousel in Helsinki.

The album is titled “Just Us” which turns into Justus, which is a nickname for Juhani. The album material was started when Heikki took a ferry to Tallinn and to pass time he wrote sheet music for Juhani. Just as a sort of greeting that they do to each others some times. This greeting then turned into an album which Jazzaggression put out.

I recommend checking the album! It’s soothing and fun at the same time. Puts you in special place. Press play and close your eyes. Let music guide you!

Telakka Jazz 2025

This is a little festival that refines year by year. Here are a few selected photos from the splendid festival.

Special thanks goes to festival artistic director, drummer and percussionist Janne Tuomi! Also DJ’s Matti Nives & Santeri. As well as Gina Southgate who painted the atmosphere on piece of canvas in front of everyone’s eyes. How lovely!

Lovely and brilliant bassist Jasper Høiby visited G Livelab last December together with Chaerin Im on keys and Jamie Peet on the drums. G Livelab been pampering us with such a quality acts throughout the winter and springtime. This was a night to remember for a long time!
