Im so overdue with posting photos from gigs I’ve photographed this year so here’s one off from backlog!

We are lucky here in Tampere x 2!

Firstly Tampere Rap Academy is couching youngsters getting forward with everything related to this rap craft. This night at Telakka was first and foremost dedicated for these future rappers. Accompanied by acclaimed rap duo Kriso & Are!

Then to the next point which is the city’s pride and joy, ever so versatile jazz group Hot Heros which delivered solid foundation of proper beats for these rappers to rhyme on! Hot Heros had a special lineup, on drums Sebastian Krühn (substituted Janne Tuomi), Ville Rauhala on bass, Sami Sippola on sax and keys plus Matti Salo on guitar!

Dr. phrased the weekend very well on his post. Amazing good times at Tampere friendship city Tartu! Thank you everyone who danced to music we played and colleagues. This was a hugely inspirational visit! Already looking forward to next psühho adventures!

Jimi Tenor visited with his cool fresh band at Tampere G-Livelab this Spring! Jimi is always worth seeing when in town. This gig had special treat when Lauri was playing guitar, Heikki was playing tuba, replacing bass. When Lauri switch to bass, Heikki switch to trombone! Also Eeti and Ekow took turns behind drums and percussion. Not to forget local legend Ismaila Sane who guest starred behind percussion for a couple of tracks. Rich sound!

Heikki Sarmanto & Juhani Aaltonen. Friends and both of them are Finnish jazz legends! Had a pleasure to see these gentlemen playing through their new album in March at Cafe Carousel in Helsinki.

The album is titled “Just Us” which turns into Justus, which is a nickname for Juhani. The album material was started when Heikki took a ferry to Tallinn and to pass time he wrote sheet music for Juhani. Just as a sort of greeting that they do to each others some times. This greeting then turned into an album which Jazzaggression put out.

I recommend checking the album! It’s soothing and fun at the same time. Puts you in special place. Press play and close your eyes. Let music guide you!

Viive visited Tampere back in February when they warmed up the stage for D.O.P.A. Full house and we heard new material as well! 🙏 Thank you both bands and everyone who came to G Livelab! Looking forward hearing more new music from Viive!
