Pappo’s Blues’ third album Vol 3 reissued on vinyl in October!

⚫️ Svart Records continues to reissue the discography of Legendary Argentinian blues rock band Pappo’s Blues with their third album Vol. 3 out on vinyl in October 2025.

At the beginning of the ‘70s, guitarist, singer and composer Norberto Aníbal Napolitano, known to the music world as Pappo, was in the enviable position of being considered among the top guitar players of the fast-growing world of Argentine rock. Volume 3 is Pappo’s third studio album, released in April 1973.

For this third studio album, the lineup changed from drummer Luis Gambolini and bassist Carlos Pignatta to Héctor Lorenzo (drums) and Carlos Alberto Rufino (bass). On Pappos’ third album, it is possible to hear musical influences from Jimi Hendrix and Cream to chord progressions that swell to Sabbathian proportions. All the songs on the album were recorded live at ION Studio by engineer Carlos Piriz, with no re-recordings, with production by Jorge Álvarez and Billy Bond. There are no other effects on the album, except for incidental noises in ”Sándwiches de Miga” and handclapping in ”Trabajando en el Ferrocarril.”

Vol. 3 is now available on Svart exclusive transparent orange with black smoke vinyl, limited turquoise vinyl, and classic black vinyl, including amazing tip-on gatefold cover and liner notes by Alfredo Rosso. The album cover art was designed by artist Cristina Villamor. The lyrics of ”El Brujo y el Tiempo” are even said to be inspired by that iconic drawing.

Svart Records julkaisee kaksikon odotetun kolmannen albumin elokuussa 2025!

⚫️ Uusi Kauko Röyhkä & Riku Mattila -single Sinä hymyilit mulle on kolmas maistiainen parivaljakon kauan odotetulta kolmannelta albumilta Meidät pelastaa vain rakkaus. Elokuun lopussa julkaistavan levyn kolmas lohkaisu jatkaa duon ilmavan svengaavaa linjaa. Tällä kertaa innoitus ja vaikutteet on haettu kirpputorien halpavinyylilaareista sekä viihde- ja elokuvaorkesterien soundimaailmasta.

”Kierrätyskeskuksista löytää kaikenlaista hauskaa. Pari vuotta sitten ryhdyin ihan huvin vuoksi keräämään 1970- luvun viihdeorkesterien albumeja, tätä James Last-Mantovani-Ray Conniff Orchestra-osaston kamaa, mitä oli tarjolla tavarataloissa, kodinkoneliikkeissä ja bensa-asemilla. Levyt sisälsivät imeliä versioita päivän hiteistä”, Kauko kertoo ja jatkaa: ”Kotona kuuntelin ostamiani levyjä ja huomasin tykkääväni monista kappaleista. Varsinkin vanhat elokuvasävelmät kuulostivat hyvältä. Niitä olivatkin tehneet kovan luokan säveltäjänimet, kuten Leonard Bernstein, Maurice Jarre ja Michel Legrand. Ray Conniff Orchestran versio Chigago-yhtyeen If You Leave Nowsta kuulosti erityisen miellyttävältä”.

Röyhkän mukaan kukaan ei tee enää tällaista musiikkia, joten asialle oli tehtävä jotain.
”Kerroin löydöstäni Rikulle. Kuuntelimme Chigagon biisin ja päätimme itsekin tehdä samantyyppisen stygen. Riku alkoi etsiä sopivia sointuja. Hän rakensi niistä pohjan, jonka päälle kehitin laulumelodian ja sanat. Ajattelin, että tässä on kyse vanhan ja uuden ajan kohtaamisesta, jokin vanha ja melkein unohtunut alkaakin tuntua tuoreelta ja hyvältä. Kappaleen tarinan henkilöt vanhentuneet, m***a heillä on yhä hyvä meininki. Uusi kohtaaminen niin monen vuoden jälkeen ei välttämättä johda mihinkään, m***a tunteet heräävät. Sinä hymyilit mulle onnistui yli odotukseni”.

Röyhkän ja Mattilan mukaan tulevan albumin teemoja ovat pitkän ystävyyden ja elämänkokemuksen nostamat isot kysymykset aikamme rajallisuudesta, uskosta sekä rakkaudesta. Meidät pelastaa vain rakkaus ilmestyy 29.8.2025 digitaalisesti, CD:nä sekä kolmessa upeassa vinyyliformaatissa, joista 100 kappaleen marmorinen limen ja turkoosin värinen rajoitettu erikoispainos myytiin hetkessä loppuun. Levy on parhaillaan tilattavissa ennakkoon asiansa tuntevien levykauppiaiden sekä Svart Recordsin verkkokaupan kautta.

⚫️ Washer is Cleaning Women’s fifth album. It started from scratch with the construction of the new Vacuum Sound Space studio back in 2020. Things took time, material was created and discarded, arrangements were edited and the form of the content needed work. All instruments are still homemade, but as the band searched for a new sound, even the responsibilities within the band were rearranged. Percussionist CW03 sometimes clung to the stringed instruments and laundryman CW04 also scooped the rhythm section with his robotic hands, still holding on to the melodic screams with one limb. CW01 wove a web together with his electric Viola de Gamba/Cello hybrid and his coffee-bean-can-bouzouki.

But what is Washer? ”It can be many things. It can be a washer that pressure washes your brain and turns your colored laundry black and white, and a bit stale. It can also be a washer that doesn’t get all the surfaces quite clear. Washer also means spacer, or medal. Cleaning Women’s homemade instruments include several washers to keep the nuts just right.”, the band comments, and continues ”The new album is the most versatile Cleaning Women ever. The drying rack has given some space to the harmonies, but there are still strong percussive elements. And a certain basic dystopian vibe that is characteristic of Cleaning Women shines through, whether we like it or not. Compared to the previous albums, musically we’re probably closest to the 2009 U album, but there’s a certain progressive edge that’s even stronger on this album.”

Washer is out on October 3rd on vinyl, CD, and digital platforms.
