In Finland I belive that midsummer is an even more important celebration than christmas.
Midsummer tradition includes spending time with family and friends at the cottage, barbequing, bonfires and ofc sauna. Midsummer includes also many magical traditions even today, specially people cast spells for love and fertility. In the old days the bonfire was made to keep the evil spirits away and ensure a good harvest.
Finns love to spend the midsummer at the cottage, the cities are ghost towns during Juhannus.
One of the most popular spells even today is to put seven wild flowers under your pillow on Midsummer night, this results in your future fiancée appearing in your dreams.
