📌 PUBLIC NOTICE | NADROGA–NAVOSA COMMUNITY UPDATE
On 12 December 2025, a Land Use Act 2010 (Land Bank) review information session was held at Yadua Community Hall with representatives from the Ministry of Lands & Mineral Resources, the Law Society of Fiji, and Independent Consultants.
🙏 We sincerely thank the Ministries and consultants for coming to the community and for engaging with the people.
After listening carefully, it was agreed that the Vanua was not yet ready to make any submission on the day. This is because the Turaga na Kalevu and the 23 Vanua Paramount Chiefs of Nadroga–Navosa were not present, and the people needed more time to fully read, understand, and discuss the Land Use Act 2010 and the Land Bank review.
📍 The meeting was therefore treated as information-sharing only, and no submission was made.
➡️ The next step is clear:
The Act will be reviewed properly through Vanua-led consultation, beginning with the Turaga na Kalevu, followed by discussions across the 23 Vanua, so that any future submission truly reflects the voice of the people and protects our land for our children and future generations.
🤝 We support development when it is done right, respectfully, and together with the Vanua.
Vinaka vakalevu to everyone who attended and contributed in a positive way.
We look forward to continued dialogue at the right time.
Na qele, na Vanua, me baleti ira na noda kawa era sebera mai.
(The land and the Vanua are for our future generations.)
