“Suva City” centers around a group of 3 friends – Luisa, Michael and Shireen. The friends first met at USP when they were studying there. After graduation each went their own way, but staying in touch over the years. Fast forward, 10 years later and they all end up in Suva in various jobs and decide to share a house together.

Through these 3, we get to meet their friends and family and neighbors and the issues that these people are confronted with on a daily basis. Through the stories of the various people/characters we look at the issue of drugs, teenage pregnancy, NCDs, domestic violence, and other social and economic issues.

While these issues are serious, they punctuated with humor and the ongoing saga of matchmaking which provide a social commentary on the age-old tradition of arranged marriages and how it may work for some but definitely not for some as in the case of Shireen and her brother, Rahul.

The series also reflects the ethnicities without stereotyping. In essence it reflects Suva city, while perhaps not in its entirety but parts of it that are relatable. It is the intention that as the series continues more and more can be reflected not only of the city and people but of the country as well.
