We’re very excited to announce Jakku’s debut EP “Fashion” out on all platforms today. Vinyls in bio.

Jakku are Per Ingvaldur Højgaard Petersen and Bárður Næs both born and raised on the Faroe Islands. On their debut EP “Fashion” they unveil their unique take on dark, spiritual electronica locked to chopped up traditional singing from the Faroes as well as other corners of the world. Their creations can be a painful listen but at the same time hopeful. Jakku have labelled it Kingodub after a primeval form of hymn singing which is still practiced on the isles. Expect deep, heavy beats with ancient marching and chanting.

Jakku will play a release show tonight at at 10pm. We want to urge everyone to come.

Repost from Orka: “This tune was written in a period where we had set aside dates in our calendars to write new Orka material. We would write music on those dates even if we weren’t in the same room let alone the same country. On one of these dates Jens was on an Atlantic Airways flight above the Atlantic Ocean where he wrote the initial ideas for the song. Even though we since then have taken the song through what seems like endless changes and it is more or less unrecognisable from the initial version, the title of the initial session stuck.

The song session would continue to travel above the Atlantic Ocean between London and the Faroe Islands where we worked on it in different studios and finally finalised it with live recordings together with , Kári Sverrisson, and at Eskal on Ushant, Brittany where we also used the original homebuilt Orka instruments. Therefore the title of the song has also come to refer to the ocean that geographically connects Francine and Jens on the British Isles and Faroe Islands as well as the island of Ushant.”

Orka is playing a London-Tórshavn b2b cyber DJ set at birthday party tonight. Hope to see you there.
