Hard to process this one… Mani just left us.
One of the real ones. Basslines that shook an entire generation — Stone Roses, , the whole Madchester mythology — but above all, a man with pure fire in his veins.

We had a totally insane night together back in 2010 at our HIGH FIDELITY party.
No bu****it, no pose — just a proper rock’n’roll soul.
Laughs, stories, chaos, music, smoke, and that energy only the true legends carry.
The kind of night you don’t forget because the guy in front of you isn’t just a musician — he is the culture.

Fresh from a typically inspired (and undeniably retro-futurist) outing on Skylax offshoot Wax Classic, prolific producer and all-round good guy Tom Carruthers graduates to its parent label. Opener (and title track) ‘Deepline’ is reflective of much of the producer’s work. It doffs a cap to the smooth-but-angular Chicago deepness of Larry Heard’s early work as Mr Fingers while adding a few atmospheric twists and some suitably heady samples. Carruthers returns to another deep musical love, 1990 style bleep & bass, on ‘Deep 12’ and the even weightier ‘Experience’ (it sounds a little like a long-lost Ability II track). Over on side B, ‘Fantasy’ is a sweat-soaked, warehouse-ready delight laden with weighty drum hits, while ‘Folx’ pairs jacking drums and throbbing bass with waves of razor-sharp synth sounds.
