Ben Bertrand is a Belgian bass clarinetist and composer who crafts hypnotic live sets using his instrument and electronic machines. His music blends ancestral traditions with contemporary electronic influences, creating a unique bridge between modernity and the past.
Often described as a meditative, slow-motion reflection on life, his sound has been featured on major platforms like NTS, WFMU, BBC, and France Musique.
He has toured widely in Europe, released several LPs on Stroom, appeared on notable compilations, and collaborated with Christina Vantzou on her album N5 (Kranky).

𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝘁 : link in bio

𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦 crystallises the new sounds and frantic rhythms of contemporary tsapiky: a cascade of offbeat snare drum beats that support or assault a robust and mobile bass line, while responding to the sharp and voluble guitar lines and the turns initiated by the saxophone.

The voice emerges: dry, powerful yet restrained, sometimes seeming on the verge of cracking. They recall one of the main functions of tsapiky musicians: to make the audience dance during bal-poussière ceremonies, playing with the intensity necessary to both honour the dead and transport the living.
