Berat Castle 🏰- A living castle in Albania 🇦🇱
One of the finest landmarks in Berat is it’s beautiful castle. A UNESCO heritage site, located in both Muslim quarter (Mangalem) and the Christian quarter (Gorica) of Berat, it overlooks the entire town.

What few don’t realize is that, not only are its ruins evidence of its intriguing history, it is currently one of the last few living castles in all of Europe.

There is a reason why Berat Castle is such a draw to many travelers. ✨

Have you heard of Suspension Bridge? 🌉

One of the highlights of visiting beautiful Berat, is the opportunity to see the “town of a thousand windows.” 🪟

A series of white hillside Ottoman-era homes, nestled under the Berat Castle 🏰 , these homes can be found in the historic Muslim quarter of Mangalem, and facing the famous Christian quarter of Gorica.

Between these two quarters is a modern pedestrian bridge that essentially serves as a walk-way, offering phenomenal views of the Mangalem quarter. This is :

Suspension Bridge 🌉

Hanging over the Osum River, this bridge is one of the most popular, picture-perfect spots to capture a backdrop of the “town of a thousand windows.”
