CLEVELAND, OH
I’ve always wanted to visit Cleveland, maybe because of Jarmush’s Stranger Than Paradise (when Eddie, Willie and Eva go from New York to Cleveland to visit Eva’s Hungarian aunt), or probably because of the Cavs and Lebron James and surely because of Bone Thugs n Harmony. I was not disappointed: from an industry in decline to financial, health and insurance services, the city has reinvented itself. Downtown is home to beautiful (empty) late 19th century indoor malls, a splendid public library, and the best candy store we’ve ever seen. And a few minutes from the city center, there are very nice beaches. We didn’t have time to do the Rock’n Roll Hall of Fame but we will come back when the kids are older with a greater rock culture.
