On IWD, let's celebrate the trailblazing rally driver Pat Moss - Sir Stirling's sister! With co-driver Ann Wisdom, Pat conquered the male-dominated motorsport in the 1950s and 60s, picking up many titles and silverware.

The Five-times European Ladies Champions' finest hour was winning the 1960 Liege - Rome - Liege Rally, a four-day, c.3,200km marathon across Germany, Italy and Yugoslavia.

One of only 13 finishers, the pair overcame a damaged gearbox, Pat's fatigue from driving non-stop for 90 hours and Ann's car sickness to secure the historic victory!

They were the first female crew to win the notorious rally – and also the first British crew to win in a British Car - the world-famous 'URX', a 1960 Austin Healey 3000 Mark 1 BN7.

If you're inspired to follow in their tyre tracks, this historic Healey will cross the block at the Bonhams Goodwood Member Meeting Sale on 16 April (estimate £350,000-450,000).

RIP Sir Stirling Moss...never were the words legend and icon more deserved.

Winner of more than 200 races, rallies and sprints including 16 Grand Prix - bagging the first victory for Cooper - and of course winning and setting a new record at the 1955 Mille Miglia...he was the greatest Formula 1 champion that never was (though four-times runner up)...

A racing driver and a gentleman.
