L'AFAC présente les 12 projets sélectionnés lors d'une conférence de presse au Festival de Dubai 2012...
Et dévoile son mode de sélection...Voili, "Walou".
This year's recipients hail from Lebanon, Egypt, Palestine, Algeria and Jordan. Their projects have been carefully selected following a thorough evaluation process with juror committees composed of regional experts and specialists in cinema. This year's Jury Committee included Ziad Doueiri (Lebanon), Raja Amari (Tunisia) and Wael Abdel Fattah (Egypt)
The deliberations were characterized by the jurors' different tastes, but also their uncompromised passion for projects with singular voices, originality and rich content. That was ultimately reflected in the final selection and in the jury statement:
"The jury selection process was not based on the geographical identity rather on the individual quality of each project. We judged each project based on its structure, character development, its uniqueness and the visual aspect of the film the way it was described in the director's statement.
We also referred to the filmmakers' previous works; it helped us better understand their vision and their method of filmmaking.
All the projects were debated thoroughly, sometimes passionately. We made it a point to go for fewer projects but seemed to us more promising. The selected projects reflect a diversity of approaches, styles and cinematic worlds."
