Proud to say the documentary ZELENSKY (by Yves Jeuland, Ariane Chemin & Lisa Vapné) is having its US Premiere today in New-York at DOC NYC in the international competition. It screens at IFC Center (Greenwich Village) at 14h45 , as well as Monday 17th November at 13h15. Yves Jeuland, Ariane Chemin and Guilaine Chenu are present in New York at the screenings.

As part of the award ceremony at the 74th Internationales Filmfestival Mannheim-Heidelberg (IFFMH), the German Documentary Film Awards were awarded yesterday evening.

The Grand Prize for the German Documentary Film Award, endowed with €20,000 and sponsored by Südwestrundfunk (SWR) and the Medien- und Filmgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg (MFG), went this year to film director Daniel Abma for Im Prinzip Familie (The Family Approach). At Java Films we are all delighted about this great news and to distribute this outstanding feature documentary internationally.

Filmmaker Daniel Abma spent several years documenting the daily life of a group home in a rural area. The film focuses on professional caregivers who strive to provide five boys, aged seven to fourteen, with what they need most: security, guidance, and a home. The jury commented: Im Prinzip Familie ("The Family Approach") captivates its audience from the very first scene and holds them spellbound until the very end. It constantly shifts between distance and intimacy. Despite the difficult subject matter, the film leaves you feeling almost uplifted. A sense of inspiration lingers."

The Jury stated : "…death and resilience in the midst of war. It is a work that places us on the frontline of our European war, a war fought relentlessly by ordinary people like us, for all of us, against the barbaric Russia that continues to spread death and destruction across our continent. At the heart of the film are two young Ukrainian women who every day live just a moment away from death, as they do even now while we sit here in safety. Through their extraordinary vitality and courage, they remind us never to abandon our creativity and our hope for the future, but to live our fragile lives to the fullest. The first documentary award of the Rome Film Festival goes to 'Cuba and Alaska' by Yegor Troyanovsky."
