What cycling at least 100km a week has taught me

Since Christmas 2024, I’ve kept a simple promise to myself: ride at least 100 km every week.

New Ride, New Page — and a Personal Movember Mission

Before I dive into today’s new cycling content, I want to share something personal. This month I’m taking part in Movember, raising awareness and funds for men’s mental health, su***de prevention, and cancer support. It’s a cause close to me, and if you enjoy my videos or find my guides useful, I’d be incredibly grateful for any support — even the price of a coffee makes.

Support me in Movember and discover what it’s really like to cycle over the Pont de l’Île de Ré and ride across the island. Safety tips, routes, videos, and my full Île de Ré cycling guide.

Would you cycle over this 2.9km French Bridge ?

After crossing the Pont de Normandie in brutal winds, I promised myself I’d never do it again. So when I reached the Pont de l’Île de Ré — a 2.9 km bridge li...

Your Best Riding Years Are Slipping Away — Don’t Waste Them. Time flies, so use it well. My advice is to buy a bike and go cycling in FRANCE.

Money is replaceable. Your best riding years aren’t.
So here’s the question every cyclist secretly asks:
If you could ride anywhere in France… where would you go first?

Would you follow the Loire River past ancient castles and sunflower fields?
Or climb into the clouds above Alpe d’Huez and feel what the pros feel on Bastille Day?
Maybe you’d chase the sunrise across the lavender roads of Provence, or trace the ghosts of D-Day through Normandy’s quiet lanes.

France isn’t just one cycling destination — it’s different worlds on two wheels.
Each region offers something the others can’t.
Loire Valley: effortless beauty and slow-travel bliss.
Normandy: emotion, history, and coastal headwinds that make every kilometre count.
Brittany: wild Atlantic wind and secret gravel routes where time stands still.
Provence: sunshine, vineyards, and the legendary climb of Mont Ventoux.
The Pyrenees: untamed, remote, breathtaking.
And the Alps? The ultimate test — where Tour de France legends are born.

The truth is… you’ll never have the “perfect” time to go.
You’ll always find reasons to wait: work, weather, money, fitness.
But one day you’ll look back and wish you’d gone sooner.
Because rides can be replaced.
Years can’t.

So watch the full video after this Short — it’s your complete guide to choosing the best region in France to ride.
You’ll see where to go for quiet backroads, where to find the biggest climbs, and where to live your dream of cycling in France — even if it’s just for one week.

Start planning, stop waiting.
Your bike is ready.
France is waiting.

Four mates, three mountains, one insane Alpine cycling adventure.

From freezing rain to surprise open cafés, from laughter to numb fingers — this was one ride to remember.

We took on Alpe d’Huez, Croix de Fer, and Galibier — three of the most iconic climbs in the French Alps — battling the weather, the altitude, and the occasional closed café along the way.

There were moments of pain, moments of triumph, and a lot of coffee breaks. ☕
This was our last ride of the year, and it turned into something unforgettable.

Stopped at the Château de Brissac on my Loire Valley ride — the tallest castle in France with 7 floors and over 200 rooms! It’s right on the Vélo Francette and just off La Loire à Vélo, perfect for a cycling detour. No bike parking inside, so bring a lock. Would you just visit the gardens, or go for the full tour?

Cycling Adventures in France: Gravel Loops, Hidden History, and Fairytale Castles

One of the best things about cycling in France is the sense of freedom it gives you. You don’t always need a plan—sometimes the best rides happen when you just clip in, start pedalling, and see where the road (or trail) takes you.

This summer I’ve been exploring two very different corners of France by bike: the wild coast of Normandy and the fairytale landscapes of the Loire Valley. Both rides started with no set route and turned into unforgettable adventures full of history, scenery, and those little surprises that make cycling here so special...............
