🚨 BREAKING NEWS: Ohanaeze Youth Council Accuses Southeast Governors, Orji Uzor Kalu Of Sabotaging Nnamdi Kanu’s Release
The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) Worldwide has accused some Southeast political leaders of allegedly frustrating efforts to secure the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Speaking in Owerri, Imo State, on Thursday, September 10, 2026, OYC National President, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, specifically named Governors Charles Soludo, Francis Nwifuru, Peter Mbah, Hope Uzodimma and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as alleged political saboteurs.
Igboayaka accused the leaders of placing personal political interests above the freedom of Ndigbo and alleged that their actions or silence have contributed to Kanu’s continued detention.
He called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ignore what he described as opposition from Southeast political leaders and use his powers to release Nnamdi Kanu before the 2027 general elections.
According to him, Kanu’s release could pave the way for reconciliation and national healing while also changing the political dynamics across the Southeast.
The OYC leader further warned that if Kanu remains detained, Igbo youths would mobilise politically against leaders they consider to be working against his release in the 2027 elections.
“If President Tinubu releases Mazi Nnamdi Kanu before 2027, Igbo youths will become the real game changers in the Southeast and across Alaigbo,” Igboayaka stated.
The statement also urged Igbo youths and supporters of Kanu to prepare for what OYC described as a major political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
