The reality of French chateau restoration: the demo and cleanup phase feels endless because of the sheer SCALE! 🏰💨
We had an all-hands-on-deck crew pushing through relentless heat this week. Vince and Pete hauled tons of debris, finally clearing century-old birds’ nests and piles of heavy plaster out of the attic. I finally bit the bullet on a giant interlocking rubble chute (way harder to assemble at chateau heights than anyone warned us!), while Vince played human rubber band hanging over the edge.
Down below, Derek tackled heavy lifting and carriage house grease, Lesley cleared decades of stubborn gate overgrowth, Jen gave the foyer windows the Cinderella treatment, and Paul was up at dawn steam cleaning dormers and chimneys before the midday sun hit.
