⚙️ ARCTICA - Reveal #5: Graphic Design with Anthony Questel & Denis Hervouet

You’ve already discovered part of the artistic world behind ARCTICA through the game’s illustrations… now we’d like to take you one step further into the project’s visual identity with our two graphic designers: Anthony & Denis 🐋

Anthony Questel was first brought in to lay the initial groundwork for the design, shaping the overall art direction and refining the functionality of the unique Generation Wheel player boards.
Our longtime graphic designer Denis Hervouet then joined the project to help finalize the cards, while also designing the rulebook and the campaign page.

We asked them a few questions so you can get a better understanding of the amazing work they’re doing to bring ARCTICA to its final form.

In our latest update on the ARCTICA page, we introduced the work of our second talented artist, Emilien Rotival ❄️

After bringing the stunning central board map to life, he also elevated the player boards originally designed by one of our graphic designer Anthony Questel (we’ll tell you more about him very soon 😉) to further enhance the immersion as you build your Arctic ecosystem.

Every turn of the wheel sets nature in motion:
🐋 Long-generation fauna → placed on the left wheel → available after 5 turns
🌱 Flora → also placed on the left wheel → available after 4 turns
🐇 Short-generation fauna → placed on the right wheel → available after 3 turns

👉 So, what do you think about this (almost) final version of the player boards?

Each year, Festival des Jeux Cannes is a must-attend event for us. And once again, this edition was incredible thanks to you 🩵

Take a closer look at the default inserts that will be included in every game of ICE! 💙

Both versions of ICE Second Edition will come with default inserts:
💎 Collector Edition: the insert consists of two parts, a deeper section and a smaller section above it. Honestly, the result is truly impressive... it's a real gem! With an extremely compact design that leaves nothing to chance.
❄️ Standard Edition: there is only one insert here, which holds the various game components and the game board, which is cleverly held in place on both sides.

And yes, it fits sleeves 😉

From initial sketches to the final version, crafting the ARCTICA cards was a long and dedicated journey, both for Christine, who spent over 2000 hours bringing the illustrations to life, and for our team, who worked hard to make the cards as clear and visually striking as possible, all while highlighting the incredible work of the artist 💙
